Everytime I go to update the application manager, it searches for updates and then gives me a list of applications for which I already have the latest version. I installed all of them again, it doesn't make them go away. They come back if I update again. I don't think it shows me any new updates either.

Does anyone know a way of fixing it without flashing?

Here are a couple things to try:

Disable some repositories. It could have to do with the same updates being available in two places.

In xterm, as root, run apt-get update

Error messages might give a clue.

When I run apt-get update, get these errors.

Code:
W: GPG error: http://ftp.mozilla.org chinook Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 667387BFFF445C24
W: Duplicate sources.list entry http://repository.maemo.org fremantle/free Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/repository.maemo.org_extras_dists_fremantle_free_binary-armel_Packages)
W: Duplicate sources.list entry http://repository.maemo.org fremantle/non-free Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/repository.maemo.org_extras_dists_fremantle_non-free_binary-armel_Packages)
W: Duplicate sources.list entry http://repository.maemo.org fremantle/free Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/repository.maemo.org_extras_dists_fremantle_free_binary-armel_Packages)
W: Duplicate sources.list entry http://repository.maemo.org fremantle/non-free Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/repository.maemo.org_extras_dists_fremantle_non-free_binary-armel_Packages)
W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems

Code:
sudo gainroot
rm -f /var/lib/apt/lists/*
apt-get update
exit
Might help? (be careful typing the rm command, double and triple check no magic spaces showed up.)

The rm command comes back with "/var/lib/apt/lists/partial: is a directory" and doesn't seem to have done anything. I still get the same errors.

the partial is expected. That can be ignored.

If it you're getting those errors after a clean apt cache - I suspect you have duplicate repositories somehow. Either via HAM, or in /etc/apt/sources.list has duplicates of whats in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/hildon-application-manager.list.

I tried disabling some of my repositories but that didn't seem to help. It seems that I had two Maemo Extras for some reason .

I removed it and I'm gonna try and update all the apps again.

I updated the apps and now they're gone from the app manager. I feel a bit stupid now :P

Thanks a lot for the quick responses.

How do you check that your source.lst your ham and your other one you just mentioned are all the same? I have a feeling mine are out of kilter

Glad you got it fixed. No need to feel stupid - everyone has oversights sometimes.
