I recommend adding support for scroll using your finger across the screen.

Now I use the stylus or keys to move.

@whitewolf:
and then how do you select multiple cells? Now I am using cursor keys for moving and I think it is an usable spreadsheet while on the go... except for the small screen area when using high zooms (necessary to be able to read datas)
Ideas welcome.
btw, thx Arcean for continuos updates!

An example:
Would use the default scrolling mode, to enable editing and / or selection of cells would hold and the context menu add the option of editing.

Now scroll through the document is slow, especially if you only want to check data.

The idea of quick scrolling sounds interesting.

Maybe a menu entry in the main menu or a button in the main toolbar to toggle the normal and the scrolling mode would help. Also, a setting in the options for default normal (=editing) mode or scroll mode after program start could be useful.

I, for example, would use the scroll mode only occasionally, but normaly like to have quick editing in normal mode. The proposed switch between using tap and hold context menu is simply to slow and would reduce usability of Gnumeric drastically IMHO.

Ok, I'll check the ways to implement this at the weekend. I'm afraid that it'll required too many changes, so we will break compatibility with upstream .
Hmm, for toggling between scrolling modes we can also use a hotkey. But I agree that there should be a button in a visible place.

Maybe a swipe from the left of the screen, like MicroB?

A bug: when I try to rename a sheet (format -> sheet -> rename), the screen returns to the normal sheet view and my N900 becomes unresponsive. No rename dialogue shows up. The only way to get out is to push the power button and choose 'End current task'. CPU meter shows minimum load when in unresponsive state. Version of Gnumeric is 1.10.11 and PR1.3 is installed. Any ideas?

Otherwise a brilliant application, thanks for the developers!
