This will be my only response to this.

I don't make a habbit of getting lost. Thus, I don't usually use "Maps". The very rarely I have to go somewhere that I don't know, the Maps has worked fine for me. Again, adequate.
-No functioning Application Store
-No commercial third-party applications or games
I don't buy apps. The repository and App manager work fine for me.
-No real Portrait Mode support
Don't need it.
-No adequate usable Office applications
OpenOffice, Abiword, Gnumeric cover me fine.
-Principally no real first or third party support
... Ok? And?

Again.. while you may hate it.. fine.. hate it. It works perfectly fine for those that don't need what you obviously need.

Basically it is adequate if you:
-don't listen to mp3's
-don't need navigation on vacation or when visiting friends/other cities/etc
-don't want any third party developed games or applications
-never want to use the device in Portrait Mode
-can accept non-optified and crashing Office applications
-are OK with paying the full price for a half-finished product

OK, I see. That is great, I can now see that this is the best mobile device ever

-Mediaplayer has major playlist editing flaws and no equalizer

yes, its not good, but you can create playlists on your pc (itunes for e.g) and easily transfer that, concering editing: mussorgsky- so yes, its not elegant, but one can solve that..

-Maemo Ovi Maps = **** compared to S60V5 Ovi Maps 3

sygic maps is great, dont mind paying for it

-No functioning Application Store

thats true and one of the flaws, but the app manager does have good community apps

-No commercial third-party applications or games

none? really? thats not true and really good ones are starting to come..

-No real Portrait Mode support

to be honest, this was one of the things i was worried about before buying the phone, but interestingly enough i catch myself using landscape even when using the browser. the only thing really missing is the virtual keyboard in portrait for those who enjoy portrait mode

Even simple "ignore this user" feature would be welcome. I'm sure there is such extension to vB available.

I use my N900 as my MAIN media player, about at least 3 hours of music/podcasts per day, over A2DP. Works as good as any dedicated device I've used.

Sygic Maps works just fine for me. If you have a problem paying for it, no our issue. Find a way around it.

The repositores are full of third party applications and games. They might not be up to the eye candy as others, but that's not what this handset was ever about.

Portrait mode is completely subjective. I don't need it.

Docs to Go has never crashed on me and I don't edit documents on 3.5" screen.

If you're miffed that you bought the device and don't understand how to use it to it's best potential for you, that's your own fault. We really don't need you in the community, so feel free to leave.

Open the respective person's profile, click User Lists and then Add to Ignore List. Their posts won't show, but you'll still see threads started by them.

That is the only solution to the problem, but honestly that is not a solution for a device that parades itself as a mobile computer. My old N95 8GB had a solution, heck even my old SE P800 had the solution, namely proper playlist editing and an equalizer.

I'm sure it's great, but no way gonna pay that much for an application that is not better than Nokia's standardly free solution for all its other new premium devices

Would love to see more

Here's a list of all of them which are good, available or available "soon":
1-Angry Birds
2-Jurassic Rollercoaster
3-Zen game
4-Office To Go Pro (coming soon)
5-Sygic Mobile Maps 9/10
6-Morpho QuickPanorama

Funnily enough I find myself doing the same thing, you know why?
Because I don't have any other choice, the only other "choice" would be putting the device away.

By all means, sell your crappy device!
What stops you from that?

As far as I know, noone is holding a gun against your forehead to keep it.

I do too, that is why it bugs me that my old N95 8GB performs better

Solution = Ovi Maps 3 on Maemo

Mostly see emulators (those are good), stock cloned games, batterycheckers and other system changing utilities.

Its a nice feature to have on a device which is clearly hardware and software wise capable and there is no substantial reason it is not available apart from laziness/abandonment on Nokia's side.

I was talking about Abiword. OpenOffice is adequate but unusable due to size

No, you see that's Nokia's fault for not polishing the software enough. If I buy a car which has a defective speedometer it's the car makers fault if I go over the speed limit, not mine.

that's great smoku, if you can't take criticism, just deny any flaws.
Like they say ignorance is bliss

Love your work by the way, keep it up

I'll have to look around for it again.

I am also pretty confident that there will be a PR1.3 (and I know nothing!).

BUT I suspect that it is going to be even less substantial than PR1.2, and that it is going to be the last firmware update for my two N900s.
