If it's up to me Irreco will never make it out to testing at first place.
Let's just call it a proof of concept.

Indeed that is a big issue. Was there ever any progress on this point?

I haven't had a remote control app since my Handera. It would be pretty nifty on the N900.

It's somewhat fixed now.
Latest Lirc version is running only when Irreco is on unlike the old version which were running all the time.

You need IR receiver. Laptop with IR port or something.
Then you somehow configure irrecord to work with it.
http://www.lirc.org/html/irrecord.html
Then you record your remote. (Not to raw format. That won't work.)
And so on.

There's no one to fix bugs.

Just a wild guess but maybe you have fingered /etc/hosts file and removed that "127.0.0.1 localhost" line.

Does irreco right now only have databases for TVs?

Much more than control my TV I actually want to control my stereo system, and most of all very simple I just need 1 command/frequency so I can control the shutter of my Nikon D70 DSLR.

Infact I just made a thread requesting somebody try to make a program that is just a desktop widget that can trigger the Nikon shutter since there is no need for a big program like irreco for just a simple 1 button 1 command setup.

Another idea I would like to share is what I would call "easy off" some of you at some point may have seen one of those lame infomercial ads advertising a little keychain device that can turn off/on just about any TV? All it does is you hold down the button and it starts to cycle through all the main IR commands to power on/off a TV.

I think this would be another awesome widget style additon to irreco. Just imagine its 2AM you were asleep for a couple of hours and you just woke up from the TV being all loud, the wife must have turned it on when she went to bed. Now you do NOT want to get out of bed to turn it off and you have no idea where the wife stashed the remote. But your phone is next to you.

Your all sleepy eyed and tired, last thing you want to do is navigate all deep into your phone to launch irreco and find the remote settings for your TV (if you ever even got it working )

But if you had this handy dandy widget on one of your desktops you can just mash that cruises through all the power commands, and turns off the TV that would be just awesome. Also you could use it just like the device advertised on tv so you can turn off/on public TV's like in a bar.
