Neo900 was never related to Maemo Council, HiFo, Maemo e.V. or any other entity in this community and Joerg even made that clear in his first post here. Neo900 project is part of Maemo community just like any other Maemo-related project spawned by any other member here. Therefore, any issues regarding Council are basically not related to Neo900 at all (and are kinda offtopic in this thread).
Well it was because I wasn't sure Dos...
It sounded pretty absolute when Joerg ended with "Bye Maemo"
And it did have me concerned what kinda spill-over effect there would be as a consequence.
That's why I wanted to voice the unspoken concern...rather than be silent and wait for someone else come along shrieking the sky is falling...making a big to do when one may not have been called for.

Clarification is good...especially when done quickly on the heels of community turmoil (which we seem to be heading towards).....it repels fears of quicksand underfoot and quells unease.

So saying ...
Joerg's response indeed calms and quells those said concerns.

You're welcome. Imagine my reaction when I got an e-mail with notification. You would think that Joerg would tell me something like that before it was public...

By the way, to move the thread back on track: you probably noticed that "marketing department" wasn't very active lately. I've been a bit busy with real life stuff like exams, plus my absence due to that was very close to the point where I needed some rest, resulting in extended period of my very limited activity in the project. I'm back now though, so hopefully we'll finish that July Trilogy really-soon-now - and not just that

Probably Neo900 UG will set up a repository, wiki, forum etc where all community members interested in FPTF version of maemo can participate/contribute without any need to become member of any e.V. or pay monthly membership fees

Good thinking.
+1 to that.
True the convenience of having "everything under one roof" so to speak would be great and all...and even if our community here (or any for that matter) were going swimmingly and optimally...with no contention or probs ...

Internally...the loud, precautionary voice....the "just in case" voice...the "failsafe" in me ((which has been (since goodness knows when...) rather an obviously predictable trait in me... btw )) is nodding his head vigorously in complete and absolute approval of this proposed idea.

joerg_rw: What about some discount for Neo900 for people who'd help in FPTF? This might speed up the development a little

I am still hanging around like a fetid albatross,
waiting for the neo900 to break the horizon.

anyways,
this appeared today and I thought it extremely pertinent
in the event anyone had missed it:
.
http://www.datamation.com/open-sourc...ardware-1.html
.
It is an excellent read.
I know, I have been there done that
and failed exactly like that so many times.

cheers, keep the fires lit somehow

That's a great article, theonelaw. It puts the painful process into perspective.

I've only put up 100EUR so far for the neo900, but I'd honestly pay a lot more if there were just some more announcements, even if it was a weekly "Nothing happened this week". All I'm looking for is a regular heartbeat.

Forgive the hyperbole, but I want nothing more in life than to see this phone produced! It would be a dream to even have an n900 with modern specs. I just wish there was a clearer timeline; dropping 750EUR on the possibility just isn't yet a reality for me :/
