I've had an Ainol Aurora Nova 7 for about 6 weeks and it has served me well. My screen is the Hitachi but the later ones are LG screens.

There is good support and info for these here http://www.slatedroid.com/forum/280-...novo-7-aurora/

I've been running the Essential Clean ROM v1.0a for 3 weeks and it's been great. The battery life is good the display is great! It also has great connectivity and I use a cheap 32 gb msd card with zero issues. I got mine locally for $159 CDN.Very good bang for the buck.

Hey Bun, I agree that Hyundai A7 plays video well. No complaint there. My complaint is about Web browsing. The text is not very sharp (if you zoom in, it's fine though). Reminds me of my 1st generation Samsung Q1 tablet (800x480). I upgraded to a Samsung Q1UP later (1024x600), and it was much better. Still have my Q1UP today.

I'm waiting for the announcement of the "Nexus 7".

No doubt it'll have Tegra3, 1GB RAM, 720p display, Android 4.1
But also 4,000mAh battery, Front Camera, Wifibgn, BT2.1, NFC, HeadJack, Accelarometre, Gyro, Mic, Loudspeaker.

I wish it has official USB-HOST and HDMI-out support. But I don't think the Nexus7 or Nexus Tab will have a microSD slot, it would be a stupid choice not to. If it doesn't have, then one can only purchase the 16GB as the 8GB wont suffice.

Rumours say the 8GB+ NAND will retail for $199, If its got an SD slot, I might have to get one.
If it turns out to not have one and $249 then, I'll be getting the Elf2, custom firmware and apps before I give it to a friend (and a review here beforehand).

Something in me hopes to get the Elf2 though, at least hoping for a quick price cut on it if the Nex7 is simply that good.

Nope. There aint any microSD slot. I thought you would call up your friend Eric, Mr. Schmidt, before Nexus7 went into production. Oh well... you are fired

I think it looks like the same one that bunanson has, with the GPS. Not bad at $93 shipped.

So I am wondering from bunanson or anyone else who would know, what are some good links for some discussion on setting this thing up, do I need to root it, are there any other ROMs that would work better, what are the best programs to put on it etc? Thanks in advance, guys.
I am afraid, the one you bought does not have gps. I dont think gps goes with 512 MB ram. You may be disappointed.

That will teach me to pay more attention to specs. Because they are so ubiquitous and cheap, I had assumed at the back of my mind that the inclusion of CPS and Bluetooth was automatic.

So my focus has been solely on screen and CPU.

Speaking of which, the first 7" running the new RK3066 has been announced.

It seems that pretty soon we are going to have a veritable avalanche of craplets coming our way.

I wonder what our $100 will get us this time around.?

I don't know, but what's strange is, what is coming from China feels like Capitalism, whereas what is coming from my country, the US, with a relatively small number of manufacturers, does not -- it feels more like Oligarchy to me.
