I wonder if Sylpheed is possible...

Tho I wouldn't imagine it being "finger" friendly at all...

If someone wanted to take the time, being a GTK+ app, they might be able to hildonize it..

ETA: claws mail was already ported to 2008... so someone just needs to bring it up to fremantle..

There is claws-mail port in extras-devel. not hildonized but quite usable even as is.

A Claws port is up in extras-devel, Lucas Maneos is the maintainer. I've messed with it a little, seems functional. Could use a lot of work to make it more finger friendly for at least common day to day emailing tasks. Claws Mail would be feature complete enough for more people I would imagine.

There isn't much info I can find on it online so I'm not sure how far he intends to take the project or if he would be interested in some help. If you've got the skills/time to contribute and are interested I'd get in touch with him.

Lucas is not going to get any far than claws is now. I am thinking on hildonizing it a bit but it won't happen instantly.

I don't think that it is quite a joke. it just seems to be somewhat lacking in features. It is a matter of just taking a look in mail clients of other phones and implementing at least the basic features. Then, take all the brainstorms and "wontfix" and "moved" filed bugs and take a look at them.

On the other hand, maybe it is so complex that anohter email client would be really the choice. I wonder if Thunderbird is to heavy to run on Nokia N900, though.

Idk . . . with Gmail it is pretty much unusable . . . It take like 30 minutes to update and receive my new emails???

And doesn't even let me read the one's that were previously downloaded?????

Is it not putting them in a cache???

Can I not read emails even when the phone doesn't have signal??
