See if the log of your router shows anything interesting (usually routers got a mini webserver for configuration and stuff, it tends to be in addresses such as http://192.168.0.1/ , http://192.168.1.1, http://192.168.100.1, or somtimes the last part is not 1, i've seen 100 as well as 254 being used, and somtimes it's on another IP range such as 10.x.x.x ; if you got WinXP in your laptop, open the network connection status window and in the second tab look for the gateway, dunno if it's much different in other Windowses, and no idea about Linux)

If the log is too crowded, try disconnecting your N900, clearing the log, then connect to the WiFi again and refresh the log page see if anything there looks like it might be related.

About installing wireless-tools package: how did you try? With File Manager? You have to open a x-term, get root and type
dpkg -i packagename
where packagename should be replaced by the exact path and filename (e.g. /home/user/MyDocs/wireless-tools.deb).
Restarted router. Nothing.
I only have wireless internet here and laptop works.
The N900 connects to the wireless network ,at least that is what it shows me.

When installing wireless tools x-terminal says : cannot acces archive: no such file or directory
Errors were encountered while processing (pathname)

Nothing out of the ordinary with router.

It truly is the N900.
Even GPS signal can't be accesed.

I'm thinking about flashing, the problem is lasting too long now.
But not knowing the cause of the problem is really troubling me..

What do you guys think.

Ok guess it will all remain a mystery then .

So i made a back up of the N900 on laptop..

Will it do the trick to put back files and such after i flash the n900?

Depends what you expect.

Make a backup inside N900 and you will get back contacts, calendar, messages, mails and also a list of installed programs.
Copying back all to MyDocs may bring back a few (not yet all (configuration/settings.

Here is some info about traceroute and some other nice tools:
http://wiki.maemo.org/Documentation/...5#Installation

Before you flash: I would delete all settings for WLAN and try to bring it back by putting all settings in again manually.
Maybe it is the power save setting or the 10/100mW power setting under advanced tab on the last page of WLAN configuration?

Will do.

Hope this rather drastic measure will amount to something.

Hey,
the latter was meant to try out before flashing. Not accompanying the flash.

Furthermore, if you flash: when you flash only kernel nothing will vanish. When you flash firmware, all from /home is lost. When you flash also with vanilla eMMC image, everything is wiped out (incl. MyDocs). Only for information ...

There is nothing that i have to change about wifi connection, the phone has worked perfectly untill
days ago.

So the browser keeps showing me "server not found".

Catalogs in app downloader like "maemo.org" can't be accesed.
In details it says : "Temporary failure resolving 'repository.maemo.org'.
...
Today I tried
ping repository.maemo.org
and the response seems quite slow, although 0% packet loss :
14 packets transmitted, 14 received, 0% packet loss, time 62057ms
