It took 4 hrs of my life to set this *^&^&^% up, may as well put it down in case I need it in the future.

Installation of the program is a breeze, appManager and click claws-mail. You done installing the programs, the setup is pain in the rear.

Using gmail setup as pop3 as an example:
On your PC, log into gmail
Settings>Forwarding and POP/IMAP
POP Download: 1. check Enable POP 2. keep Gmail's copy in the Inbox
IMAP Access: 1. check Disable IMAP

Click Save Changes, and you should see preferences saved. If you can send mail, but not receiving, you probably has enabled both pop3 and IMAP. Again, you should enable one of each, not BOTH

On your tablet,
Claws-mail>Menu>Configuration>Create new account...>
Basic
- Name of account FU
- set as default check
- Full name user
- mail address user@gamil.com
...
- Server for receiving pop.gmail.com
- SMTP server (send) smtp.gmail.com
- User ID user
- Password user password
click Apply

Receive
- Use secure authentication (APOP) uncheck
...
click Apply

Send
- SMTP Authentication (SMTP AUTH) check
- Authentication method Automatic
...
- Authenticate with POP3 before sending check
- POP authentication timeout: 2 minutes
click Apply

SSL
- POP3
- Don't use SSL uncheck
- Use SSL for POP3 connection check
- Use STARTTLS command to start SSL session uncheck
- Send (SMTP)
- Don't use SSL (but... uncheck
- Use SSL for SMTP connection uncheck
- Use STARTTLS command to start SSL session check
...
- Use non-blocking SSL check
click Apply

Now it should work as a pop3 email client for gmail.com

- SMTP server (send) smtp.gmail.com
- User ID user
- Password user password
click Apply

Send

click Apply

Hey Bun.

I have a hotmail and a yahoo account for email.

I also started using Pidgin from time to time.

Is there anything that will light up the Dpad, make a sound, or something immediately when receiving a new message?

I'm still living in the primitive world of needing to log into hotmail every time just to see if I have a new message or not.

Thanks.

yahoo.co.uk email accounts are free, and you can set pop access up in the options screen.

I have several accounts, all free.

check it out
