How to gain root privileges on N9?

I have turned developer mode on and I can access a terminal.

(Sorry if this question has been responded already.)

Type 'devel-su'. Password is 'rootme' if I remember correctly. Though it still doesn't have full privileges to everywhere, you can at least kill the ads from web pages with special hosts-file etc.

Can anyone elaborate on the limitations of root access on the N9? What privileges are missing?

@RobbH,

Look here: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=76635
and here: http://wiki.maemo.org/N950/Aegis-notes

Basically, root is not a super-user anymore, but has to comply with whatever policy is defined by Nokia.

Thanks. I don't yet have a good understanding of Aegis, but it appears to me that any privileges users have can be taken away at any time, by Nokia.

Is that a reasonably accurate summary of the problem?

Yup. It's supposed to protect the N9 from its owner
