And after reading it I realise why I like this phone sooo much.

I think that Nokia need to believe in the phone a bit more and push out their software dev team and get them developing in QT ASAP!!!

Cool, it probably gets a better review because it has been around for a while. I'm sure if it was reviewed a few months ago it would be hard to give it a passing mark, but by now it is clear the community can make up for most of Nokia's shortcomings.

The last couple of paragraphs of that article were sad.

The N900's one major caveat is that PR 1.2 looks like the last of Nokia's firmware updates for the platform, as it will not run MeeGo. For that, you'll have to wait for the rumored N9.

Just got finished reading the article. Sounds like the author really got it regarding the N900. Which is not all that surprising for a gearhead like site like anandtech.

Overall a positive review of the N900. But also fair, not a puff piece.

I am quite sure qgil (I think) is around here quoted as saying there will be a PR1.3....

I'll have to look around for it again.

Just a couple of things to add to what was an excellent article. I ran the spider benchmark on my Oced N900 (950) and got a much better score of 22750. I also downloaded and compiled linpack for my N900 and got 10.8 Mfps which as you can see poops on all the others from a great height.

Also to everyone who *****es about the N900 battery life - you might want to check out the graphs in comparison to the other phones.

They are like the other Maemo hopefuls: in theory N900 is awesome, in practice, apart from the browser and a select few other features, it is unacceptable for adequate use

I adequately use mine every day just fine...

It's inadequate for some people's uses.

-Mediaplayer has major playlist editing flaws and no equalizer
-Maemo Ovi Maps = **** compared to S60V5 Ovi Maps 3
-No functioning Application Store
-No commercial third-party applications or games
-No real Portrait Mode support
-No adequate usable Office applications
-Principally no real first or third party support

Maemo 5 isn't even a year old and already pretty much near its EOL
