Hi!

I uploaded to Extras-devel an utility to set the headphone volume to 100% (instead of the default 88%).

The daemon starts automatically at boot.

The daemon sets the headphone volume to 100% when the N900 volume is set to max (other values are untouched) both when listening to music and during phone calls.

I promoted the package to extra-testing, please test it and give karma to promote the package to stable:

WOW ... BRILLIANT!!!!

Can you do another one so it sets the headphone volume to 100% for when you make a call as well or does this do it for all outputs???

edited: i re-read your post stating what it does and didnt get as far as the "it is for calls as well" part.

Just installed and tested.

when playing media player alsamixer puts Headphon to 88% so no change there
When making a phone call alsamixer puts Headphon to 88% so that is a massive improvment and exactly what I wanted to have resolved in my thread to get someone to help me http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=65802!!!

Did you reboot after installing it?
Check if the daemon is running with

Code:

ps | grep volumecontroldaemon

You can also try to launch it from a terminal with

Code:

/usr/sbin/volumecontroldaemon -d

With the -d switch you'll see debug output in the terminal.

im not an expert with linux but when i type

Code:

ps | grep volumecontroldaemon

into xterminal i get

Code:

1796 user   2088 S grep volumecontroldaemon

back which i guess means it is running!

but its doing something (what i wanted in the first place) as headphone level is at 88% for media player and calls (it used to be 88% for media player and 48% for calls)

yep i rebooted

rebooted again and checked in terminal

Code:

ps | grep volumecontroldaemon

and got the same message back

Code:

1680 user  2088 S  grep volumecontroldameon

so i then tried

Code:

/usr/sbin/volumecontroldaemon -d

and get

Code:

 Debug: "Starting daemon. . ."
Debug: "Waiting for dbus events. . ."
Debug: "Current volume: 99%"

then nothing at all happens .. dont even get prompt to type commands back? how long should i wait?

tested again after this and still get 88% for mediaplayer and calls.

is still an improvment on standard levels though as used to get 88% for mediaplayer and 48% for calls.

This is the "problem", the program reacts when the % is at 100%...strange that your N900 stops at 99%...

I'll change the code to include 99%
