It seems tags are associated with images, as they preserved when moving them back-forth. About removing tags - I think you have to just de-select the tags set, via the "Edit tags" option.

Tags are saved in the EXIF metadata and are a standard recognized by many photo applications. So, for instance, when moving tagged photos from the N9 to Picasa, the tags wouldn't be lost.

I just copied over 1000 pictures (resized and what not with Lightroom [who kept the EXIF data intact) and they all show as taken the day I copied them (yesterday). that is SO stupid.

Is this a bug?

Yes. And don't expect a fix.

I don't expect a fix. I'd like to provide a fix.

Tracker is open source, right?
And is there a CSSU for MeeGo/N9 already ?

any idea how to quickly set tags simply by folders my photos are in? I got hundreds of photos and for instance in Shotwell they're organized only by date, so I'd need to tag them separately, what would take some time.

There's no CSSU for MeeGo/Harmattan yet. No idea about the tracker though, sorry!

Tags option is not as useful as Folders option. Anything new and trendy doesnt necessarily has to be perfect. A classic practice of Folders is much easy and user-friendly... So here, i too have lots of snaps and would like to organize in a Folder way...

Any suggestions would be great...
Thanks in advance...

Thanks for this explanation, it was what i was wondering.
But i tried the various declination of exif* on linux, and none of them can extract the user defined tags.

Do you know how to do that, or a tool that can do that? so that we could possibly rebuild an index from a collection exported from the N9
