Hi guys, recently Xbox Live sent a update with Internet Explorer Browser and Xbox Smartglass to control the dashboard with any android, ios or windows phone. Maybe the developers of this community can make a version to maemo and meego?

Press release.

Why would they want to make a free app if they can force you to buy either a WP or Windows 8?

guess why microsoft office isn't available on linux?
Cause they want it to be exclusive on their plateform.
Same thing for any apple/microsoft software/product.

I can't understand any of the words from the OP post links but 1: Javascript.
Get that Javascript library and QML can easily be built around it.

Why would you want such an app that can only navigate the dashboard?

This is something that I don't understand with the MS marketing team ATM, they even tout that you can access live on the WP phones where you have little more than the basic functionality of looking at your avatar and annoying your mates as they play games by re-connecting online when you signal drops. MS should pull their finger out and give us the ability to stream games through our devices ala Remoteplay and Onlive instead of this weak offering.

I'll be happy when I'll make music with Fruity Loops Studio on my N900! :)

you can try lmms ;)
It's the same as fruity loops, but free.
I think it's available on the n900, but i am sure there is a .deb of it for ubuntu!

Not exactly true about being exclusive:D
Just search Microsoft Office for iOS or Android on Google. For example:
http://www.theverge.com/2012/11/7/3612422/microsoft-office-mobile-ipad-iphone-android-screenshots
Now if Sailfish OS can run android apps with ease then if its ported(hopefully) to the N9 you'll have Microsoft office apps. Same thing would apply with Xbox smartglass since android already has an app for it. :)

If you're talking about Sailfish, the SDK will not be availably until early Q1 of 2013. Can't wait. :D The Xbox smartglass SDK requires an Xbox 360 developer login, and comes with an Xbox SmartGlass Studio environment for building "SmartGlass Activities." It also includes a Javascript API that will work across Windows, iOS, Android and Windows Phone platforms, plus a library of sample code for developers to build off of.

... i was thinking about xbox smartglass too, but the source is closed and there is no api or workaround :(

it would be nice to use the N9 as a keyboard for the xbox (since IE is running you can watch youtube videos in html5)

-> an idea would be to sniff the traffic what smartglass makes (wireshark) and try to rebuild an app.
i've tryed this already with bluestacks, but smartglass isn't compatible with it :( ... and i dont have any android device to work with.

cheers,
