Hmm, GTK assertion. Same issue here and here. Check both threads for solutions.
Yes, that's what i meant. You never know when your second language gets worse.

Hi there, the version is 1.34.
How would i know if i was a normal user?
Am downloading it to Nokia N900 Dir on file manager.
I dont think there are other read/write problems on the device.. not that ive encountered yet anyway.

Thanks for the reply.

@Marty

There are newer versions available. Have you tried any of these?

If you simply type transmission in the terminal, than it's pretty safe to assume you're doing that as a normal user. The reason for asking is that Google gave some hits with a similar error, received by people who were doing things as root. Not the case with you.

I am not running Transmission at the moment, but when I did, I had some trouble getting write permissions for the files being downloaded, which caused some odd error messages.

I'd say, your best bet now, would be to try a more up-to-date version. It should be available from your Application Manager

I have actually just looked on the app manager and cannot seem to find anything on there to do with 'transmission' should i be changing a website url which contains more apps or are the default app urls ok and contain all the apps needed?

Thank you!

v1.75 works perfect for me. Slows down the phone a little when downloading but nothing near what the newer versions do - they slow down so much that it renders it unusable. v1.75 should be available in extra's repository but I dont think it will show until you uninstall your current version of transmission (and obviously have the extra's repo enabled).

Alternatively there is another torrent client called QtRapids that you might want to try, I havent now that transmission works ok for me.

Put this in your phone dial screen to see your current firmware version.

Code:
*#0000#
That should give you something like

v20-2010-36-2
