I had similar problems, but then I realized that I was often in the habit of clicking links twice; I got in that habit from the Windows world, I guess. Double clicking will NEVER open a link, because it's the resize function. When I got used to making sure I single clicked to open a link, the problem went away.

what works for me is double tapping on the link to ZOOM RIGHT in, and then trying to follow it. It probably has something to do with how the browser handles your finger "clicking" a large area, and determining what you actually intend to do.

I would guess that if the browser can't determine what you want to do, it does nothing.

I've had the same issues with the the browser responsivness, but I don't think it's the screen. I see feedback everytime I touch the screen. What I don't get is that satisfying highlight blue response from links especially on ESPN.com. Is it because of the Flash loading? I've also notice when I press a link repeatedly, I get a "application not responding" message.

Almost every time when you load a page and click a link there nothing happens as if browser just grabs focus or something? It's a small thing I know but it's getting annoying... I'd say the most annoying quirk with this phone for me at the moment.

Sometimes you click the link and it gives visual feedback that you hit the link but nothing happens and I need to tap again, sometimes I just feel like I should hammer the stylus trough the screen because it gets so frustrating.

Can I report this bug/feature/quirk to the bugzilla/whatever? Or has someone raised this question already?

And are you experiencing this?
I remember having these kind of problems at the first week of owning N900 with the first fw. I have had N900 now for 3 months and it's 100% that links work right away.

I have calibrated the screen using fingers and it have become a habit that i tap the screen under the link. I don't know why exactly, but i get response every time nowadays.
Problem could be if you are using alot of some flash page or something similar.

i have an issue with microb too.....

when i want to open a link in a new window i have to try it multiple times.....

example: i klick and hold a link... the link gets grey.... popup comes but only with "open in new window" (translatet for german) and no "open link in a new window"

the difference is.... with the first command exactly the same window opens a second time....

with the second command the page that hides behind the link opens in a new window... <-that is what i want...

BUT sometimes the links open from alone in a new window....(example.: links in signatures @ maemo.org) but i as user dont know witch link opens in a new window or witch not.... and on this links the command "open link in a new window" never appears....

hope everyone understand what i mean....

Yep, it's sometimes impossible to open a link in a new window, since you just don't get the context menu. No matter how many times you re-try or zoom.

I think my behemoth fingers have something to do with my browsing problems. That, and the fact I like touching everything on the page. The N900 makes the entire internet look like one big shiny object that has my complete attention and I have to poke everything.

not just links, buttons, radio buttons and textboxes. you'll have to keep tapping a few times to get it to work. or zoom in real close to click.

I have experienced this also, and it has nothing to do with hitting or missing the link. Often the link will display a dotted border, change colour, display all the visual confirmations you've hit it - except the browser does nothing. Zooming in and clicking doesn't help either. Someone suggested it might have do something with being unresponsive while the page still loading, and that sounds more like it, but I can't confirm it.

This is microb related, firefox behaves differently. There's no problem with the display.

I have also seen the no-menu bug but I don't expect they are related.
