I downloaded a think called network manager (I think) and right after I downloaded it, a new network called devel_adhoc appeared in the list of availible network connection. Its availible to me just about everywhere. I signed onto it, and I was unable to access the web. why is this? does it actually get onto the web?

Does anyone know what it is or what it does? thanks for any help you can give.

It's just an Adhoc mode WiFi connection for connecting two devices without a hotspot. E.g. you could connect the N900 to your laptop without needing a WiFi hotspot. Adhoc mode doesn't support power-saving, so this is quite a battery drainer.

I bet you didn't even try to search the forums for the answer before posting this thread, did you?
