Yeah, I use Kubuntu so I could do it that way. Is it possible to put hildon statusbar widgets in the KDE tray? That word rock.

I just tried installing the Fremantle SDK, but get strange errors when starting up the UI:

Code:
[sbox-FREMANTLE_X86: ~] > export DISPLAY=:2
[sbox-FREMANTLE_X86: ~] > af-sb-init.sh start
/usr/bin/af-sb-init.sh: line 1: export: `:': not a valid identifier
AF Warning: '/etc/osso-af-init/matchbox.defs' not found
Note: For remote X connections DISPLAY should contain hostname!

Eek! Any ideas about that? (yeah, I know I'm pushing my luck...).

Thanks!

I get the same errors, but my pygtk (sans hildon) apps run.

Here's some Ubuntu statusicon (statusbar) stuff: click me

This works in Maemo, KDE and I think Gnome.

Does hildon-desktop come up in your Xephyr window? Mine just stays gray...

That's some neat stuff. Are there any negatives to using that versus the normal hildon desktop statusbar item way?

Yes. I take it you're following thp's steps like you did for Diablo? Don't forget the:

export DISPLAY=:2

That's some neat stuff. Are there any negatives to using that versus the normal hildon desktop statusbar item way?
I've done both. Statusbar code will only work in Maemo. StatusIcon code is just generic gtk2. Qole's using it in his Easy Debian. It was a nice surprised that it ran in the Maemo statusbar.

Negatives? Not sure. The launching mechanism for StatusIcon stuff might have an identity crisis. I've never created a .desktop file for StatusIcon code. Hmm.

Ok, I'm officially an idiot. I forgot to install the nokia-binaries. That'll do it...
