Well yeah.. ALSA works.. I just got it setup in Gnome just fine.. Totem, Alsaplayer both worked fine.

System sounds in Gnome worked when I went and manually select "ALSA" as the daemon to use and hit "test"

So you just need to tell apps to use ALSA?

I'm mostly interested in getting VoIP to work ATM (Linphone most likely, MAYBE Ekiga, though it's quite heavy.), FWIW.

It appears so.. but alsaplayer played HORRIBLY.. choppier than hell... so I need to find some way to add that 4096 bits to alsa's config like the mpd has.. because mpd plays beautifully.. but this is all configuration related stuff...

At least sound is working .

Wait...If ALSA is working, how come "aplay mytestwavfile.wav" doesn't work?

I dont have a .wav file to test with aplay but I don't know. Did you start from a fresh deblet?? some of your configurations you did while going through qwerty's may be causing a conflict..

I didn't use the init.d script that he posted and stuff like that..

Do you get any errors running:

alsamixer -c0

?

http://trac.tspre.org/projects/deble...s/tablet-sound <- got it included in base packages now

Next step i should do is include "base states" (unmuted and such) like Kaze does it. My problem was it being muted, personally.

Hint regarding copying /usr/lib/alsa-lib - it's not needed, just install libasound2-plugins. I've tested this one with aplay.

Thanks all involved for all your great effort in this

ALSA playback tends to be garbled sometimes in Maemo, FWIW; at least with mpd and sox, over analog (speakers or headphones; it's fine with BT/HSP).

Using libao -> esound in maemo is the best way to get clean sound; it seems like a buffering issue, but I didn't care enough to troubleshoot when libao/esd worked fine.

Don't know if that's really helpful, but it might be the same as (some of) the problem here.

I just made sure it was unmuted in alsamixer. I'll try all of this again from a fresh install (especially since it's now set up by default ).
