Hey, I would love to have one for my business. Can you please explain what the purpose of this time sync feature is? It sounds interesting but I am less aware of it.

the time sync feature rocks - yes it does:

what it does is resynchronize your n900 clock to UTC
because GPS signals contain the accurate time.
It does this when you launch the app (it takes a minute or so).

look up GPS time in wikipedia - it is used to sync time for
the ntp servers that sync your desktop.
it works anywhere you can get gps signal.
I rely on it when I am working in the jungles far away from
internet access.
cheers

Is GPS Recorder still being developed?

I would like to see one new feature. This is recording a description or a comment as well as a name for a waypoint. I think the GPX format allows this.

This would let me use GPS Recorder for note-taking when I am doing geology field-work. At the moment I use it to mark waypoints, but take the notes in Leafpad.

Any chance of seeing this on the N9? I used this all the time on my n900.

Answer is NO, sorry. GPSRecorder development has stopped around one year ago. I left for traveling since then and I don't have my N900 device anymore.
But the GPX file format do indeed allows to describe a point without having to use an format extension. If you are yourself a programmer, the source code is still available on the forge and you can provide patches, I will take time to apply and upload them.

Is there a way to force the speed display to refresh every second? It seems to me now that it refreshes just once every five seconds which is not enough for driving.
