You can use mldonkey (with web interface, sancho gui, or kmldonkey gui) or amule (gtk or web), running in daemon mode into debian (with easy debian, or own debootstrap).
So yes, its do-able.

You have to realise that this phone has been marketed as the next new smart phone in some places, for my example by Carphone Warehouse in the UK. They are the leading retailer of mobile phones here...
