I had reboot problems only when, upgrading vom v3d to v3e, I tried to install lots of packages I wanted in one go. Doing them individually, I then didn't encounter this problem again - but of course...

ha ha! I've fscking solved the problem. basically apt-get pegs the cpu @100 percent, chokes the phone and the phone reboots as a result.

the solution is to use the "nice" command to run apt-get at...

I don't have power kernel running. My solution was to make backups and to install in smaller pieces when I run into the reboot problem.
