Re: NOKIA is still strong

Nokia has become the Kia/Hyundai of cell phone manufacturers.

Excels at making cheap products, however you wouldn't want to buy anything sporty or 'fun' from them

Re: [TUTORIAL GIGA UPDATE] Do you smell it, do you? It's Gingerbread!

Oh. Sorry. Where is your working port on android on the n900? Because it's so easy right?

Porting it in the first place was impressive. Now they have to deal with closed source drivers. 1.5 years...

Re: Meego vs Android apps (C or Java?)

The trouble is never with the people who ARE good coders, but with those who aren't. Apple does not have multitasking for the same reason - it's the simple way/euphemism of avoiding calling your...

Re: Meego vs Android apps (C or Java?)

You didn't get the point: It's not a matter of ARM support. It's a matter of architecture diversity and whether it will attract other phone vendors.

I don't believe you understand what you're...

Re: Meego vs Android apps (C or Java?)

Well sure. But it's another thing to add some "if"s or configs in the code and another one to distribute different binary packages. For example, if N9 comes with meego and it has an ARM CPU and 1000...

Re: Meego vs Android apps (C or Java?)

From the developers PoV it's a great difference. One is done by the developer (in fact: by each developer) and the other by the vendor (and only once). Android's approach seems more suited for...

Re: Meego vs Android apps (C or Java?)

IMO: No it's not. See what happened with 64bit windows support. It's not ready yet (!).

It's not an issue of whether "it is possible" from the developer PoV. It's mostly like this: why write an...

Meego vs Android apps (C or Java?)

Here's something that I can't answer straightforward and it would be nice to have some comments from Nokia on this.

Let's assume that MeeGo is released and that it's awesome. Now, suppose that...

Re: NITDroid Gingerbread in work!

Froyo is slow on Arm11 architectures (HTC Wildfire, etc) NOT on Arm Cortex A8 or similar (Hummingbird, Snapdragon etc).
The N900 CPU at 600 MHz is a lot faster than any Arm11 CPU (like HTC wildfire,...

Re: Windows mobile on Nokia smartphones?End of meego?

Seeing as how Nokia is a founding member of MeeGo, if they were to go WP7 along side MeeGo it would be a direct blow to the adoption of MeeGo on all devices, even their own. After all, what would it...

Mate,
Not cool.
They haven't got a fully functional OS on anything other than Maemo.

Why not help develop it yourself? Many of us here have helped develop Android to where it is now. I helped...

Re: N900 what it has to be, without uboot crap

There's simply a glitch in Titan's kernel, which will need to be fixed at some point(It seems to depend on the hardware version). Do note that this is experimental software; you can't rely on it...

Re: Seriously unhappy with N900 and Nokia.

People here don't like it when they read negative things about the n900. They get REALLY defensive and throw away common sense and comes out with emotional outbursts instead.

I wish you luck.

Re: Will there be a Wardrive app?!

What an incredibly arrogant stance to take. Especially from the same person that posts stuff like this: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=62647
