Re: Is there anything we can do??

You are an A$shoI_E, you've got no right to take this kind of comparison, YOU simply have no right to mention Down childs.

And in fact, N900 seems way better FOR ME than any other phone/handheld....

Re: Is there anything we can do??

Nope. That's why I've repeatedly considered this strategic partnership flawed and seemingly backwards.

Unlike any of these reality lacking folks, WP7 is pretty much a flop. So was KIN. So was...

Re: Wiki link in main banner

so in the rehash, what was the deciding reason that it was a bad idea to make the wiki more visible? what detrimental effects were there expected by making info like the wiki more easy to find? I...

Re: Repositories down until Monday 18.1.2010

Nokia should have mirrors, but I am happy that they are open enough to allow others to mirror their repositories unlike some other platforms and it's nice to see that they implemented open source...

Re: maemo.org server move Friday 15.1 08:00 UTC ->

That's probably the wrong question for this thread. Why don't you enter your particular problems in the search engine - or better yet the Power Search (http://talk.maemo.org/msearch.php), and find...

Re: Repositories down until Monday 18.1.2010

Just my initial thoughts of all this mess; shouldn't Nokia host these kinds of important servers instead of outsource to an unreliable ISP? "Real ISPs" have 24/7 maintenance anyway.

This must be...

Re: Wiki link in main banner

I'm sorry but I am going to have to completely disagree with the outcomes of previous arguments, it is not common sense web design. As RevdKathy stated the demographic has changed radically in the...

Re: Wiki link in main banner

And you don't think the changes in the demographic of t.m.o. in recent months make it worth having a fresh look?

Re: Repositories down until Monday 18.1.2010

Would it be worthwhile to get this post on a sticky until the issue is resolved?

Repositories down until Monday 18.1.2010

Just got off the phone with the ISP help desk.
The fix goes to tomorrow morning.

Until that repositories and mailing lists are down due to a completely dead NFS mount. :(

P.S. Sorry for...

Re: maemo.org failed to refresh

That makes it less surprising but it doesn't make it a well managed, fault-tolerant, smooth transition. I'd never claim that's easy, but it is certainly possible.

Re: Update to PR1.1 2009-51.1 Now Media Streaming Broken

I have had some time since my first post this morning to sort out which video formats still stream and which are broken after this morning's update (PR1.1 51.1).

The streaming of video types...

Re: Constructive Criticism: what is is and what it ain't...

Sure, there is certain amount of fanboism, but I wouldn't say that everybody saying anything negative about Maemo or Nokia gets attacked automaticly.

For example see this thread from yesterday:...

My understanding is that there were issues affecting the implementation of USB host/client/charging detection so the plan was to ship a software update to Extras after release...

I disagree those are the only options.

For one, I still have yet to see that ignoring can actually work. It never did in forums I used to frequent. People who crave attention will up the ante...
