this is a Community
more then the sum of its members
and it's a free world... a package that might be important to you (sport, games, ????) may be totally meaningless to someone else
and vice et versa...

this being said, simply check the stats of the most downloaded package, maybe?

Nice question but it's not an easy answer.
There are many amazing coders it would be unfair to single out one.

Also IMO to calculate the best coder there are many attributes to consider.

Technical skills?
Multiple languages?
Tidy code?
Good documentation?
Commits to the community?
Good Bugtracking?
CSSU coders?

This isn't easily/fairly calculated from most downloaded package or most packages released.

It's definately not in community spirit to single out one but I am sure we could name a good few.

that's kind of general... but it is not me, i generally do grunt work, and when i actually do any code i almost do brute force until it works

Kind of trollish question, and I wouldn't even dare to try to answer it as there's so many people in this community doing great work.

But I'll give one example off the top of my head, of someone who impresses me: thp. I haven't read his code or even tried most of the stuff he's done. But I'm nevertheless impressed, because 1) he's done lots of very different great stuff 2) most of it is open-source.

Only great coders can name the best.

This must be the dumbest thread I've ever read..

Dave, stahp... Dave STAHP!!! STAAHPPP IT DAVE....

There's no "best coder"... TMO is well known for collaboration between many great coders... So technically every coder here is the best coder...

I think that trying to name the "best" is a little too random and divisive. Wouldn't it be better to recognize some of the great devs and contributors who have made using our devices so much better?

But I'd like to give a shot out to Coderus for his many contributions, especially including Unrestricted System UI. Great job. And I totally agree with him that itsnotabigtruck and Inception were game changers for the N9.
