There is a very nice video of Stellarium Mobile on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGi1wVUCFqY
It is developed by the same guy who made Stellarium.
Where can I download Stellarium Mobile?

From the looks of it, you can't yet. The site is http://stellarium-mobile.org/ but there's nothing on the downloads page yet.

I just tried this new version and I'm really impressed with the simple concept, specially when there seem to be no digital compass in the n900.

I would go as far as to say this is now one of the top applications for the n900. Quite a big download but worth it (recommend you use your wifi to download it).

Tip: if anyone is using this app and does not know where south is for example, if there are houses around you, take a look to see if you can spot any satellite dishes nearby, while not 100% accurate what I'm going to say, normally satellite dishes point southwards (in the northern hemisphere and opposite direction in the south hemisphere).
The following site might help you with satellite dish directions: http://www.dishpointer.com/

thank you

@windows7
Where did you download Stellarium Mobile?
I also think that this will be one of the "must haves" for the N900.

Classic example of arbitrary Nokia decision making. Couldn't just fallback to the no brainer of tagging with lat/lon if network isn't accessible, could you Nokia?

Truly impressive, sure does get my vote. I just hope the judges will value this (at least) in the "best Maemo app" category and not fall for some bells&whistles twitter/facebook app.

Agreed, in order of apps used on my phone (till mobile backtrack comes out) is SMS, then Stellarium, then Phone calls

Are there any hints when we can expect this fine piece of software? The video looks really great. Don't want to rush things, I'm just curious.
