Re: Where to buy the N9 in the UK
No thanks - those are huge, unfocused threads which no-one has bothered to index. I don't see why there's this leaning towards huge threads - they're certainly not helpful.
Anyway, I'm starting to...

Where to buy the N9 in the UK
Only reliable people I see at the moment are Expansys, who have the 16GB up for £540. I think this is a bit steep - though I'd rather pay more and not be mucked about, I would've thought £500 would...

Re: What next for N900 users?
I think I've already established the reasons Symbian is not good enough, but let me summarise:
- Cannot have more than one 'window' open in the same app (2 e-mails and a reply being a good...

Re: What next for N900 users?
The missus has an N8. It's nice, but it's hardly a mobile computer ;) As I said, what really gets me is the multitasking - I often have multiple e-mails, sms, websites, etc. open and I reference...

Re: What next for N900 users?
It's no fun being on a dead platform that can't even be developed by the community. You can't release a CSSU for the N8..
It's still android - I want a good OS, not a processor I can't use...

Re: What next for N900 users?
Whilst better than Android, Symbian multi-tasking leaves much to be desired. You still can't switch between windows in the same app, for example. And again, it's a dead platform - I wouldn't be...

Re: What next for N900 users?
HP are really splashing out on WebOS as their smartphone/tablet play, and they're supporting a community much like maemo.org (PreCentral.net). It might not work out for them, but you can guarantee...

Re: What next for N900 users?
Last time I checked it wasn't working, and there were some threads on it - so I just started using uploads on the website. Maybe it's fixed now?

What next for N900 users?
So I'm pretty much coming to accept that Maemo/MeeGo isn't going to be on my next phone. The N9 has no hardware keyboard (lord knows I've tried to get on with Swype, but I just can't), the N950 isn't...

Re: alien dalvik on the N9
Actually (AFAIK) Harmattan is just Maemo with MeeGo APIs. They didn't trash the whole OS and start again with MeeGo.
MeeGo is not Nokias.

Re: alien dalvik on the N9
It's being marketed as a porting technology, not an end-user app. Devs need to buy the product and use it to port their Android app.

Re: Nokia N9: The non-epic Pros and Cons Thread
Yeh. Photons aren't technically particles at all, so it would be pointless to give them a size. This is moving into quantum mechanics, which I only have a terse understanding of - but I do know that...

Re: Nokia N9: The non-epic Pros and Cons Thread
I ignored you once already, because it's a gross over-generalisation. Different phones have different sized CCDs - there isn't one 'mobile phone CCD' that everyone puts in their phones, so your point...

Re: Nokia N9: The non-epic Pros and Cons Thread
CCD size is an important part of what makes a good image, but it doesn't mean that you should lower your pixel density - it means you should have a bigger CCD.
As the CCD becomes more dense it's...

Re: Nokia N9: The non-epic Pros and Cons Thread
Have you been drinking a bucket of Jobs-ade? A good big CCD is a plus, granted - a large 5MP CCD might outperform a smaller 8MP CCD, for example - but more pixels are also a plus. like for like, a...

Re: Nokia N9: The non-epic Pros and Cons Thread
Meh. It's got Swype, and I should probably start learning to use an on-screen keyboard. The world isn't gonna wait for us to be convinced of a technology most other people are happy with.

Re: The EPIC N950 anticipation thread
That was just a quote from a guy that doesn't even work for Nokia anymore - and I call bullcrap on that 92 000 figure. Anyway, it doesn't discount the fact that the phone wasn't ready for production...

Re: The EPIC N950 anticipation thread
But it wasn't the final step - they're pre-production phones built for showing off and developing on. They still had a boatload of work to do before firing up the factories for a full production...
