Hi,

I recently bought an N900. Very nice phone.
I want to use it with emacs/org mode and would appreciate if people could share their rx-51 file. I have read the keymapping section and there is some stuff I am not understanding yet, and I am sure some of you already have figured out a very good keyboard lay-out (qwerty).
Searched the forum and found lots of comments but only a few working rx-51 examples and they only appear to change one or two keys.

Additional key that is certainly needed for emacs is the meta (alt) key. But the more keys are available the better.

Thanks.

thanks mr_pingu! Very nice lay-out and I can see the differences in the file compared to the original. It seems to be quite easy now to change it too if needed.

You're welcome
Oh and page up, page down, home and end are mapped on FN + arrow keys.

Up = page up
Right = end
left = home
Down = page down

Whatever I do I don't seem to get the Escape button recognized in emacs.
I remapped the down button to 'ESC' and tried 'Escape' and also 'Alt_L'

After the remapping the down button is unresponsive (so the remapping did something) but pressing down button and an additional button didn't result in the Meta action. Seems like the button is not registered at all.

Any idea what I am doing wrong or should do?

Still not figured this out...

The esc button doesn't seem to be accepted whatever I do or try. Pretty sure emacs is being used by lots of N900 users so is there something obvious I am missing here?
I also tried this rx-51 file
https://raw.github.com/vahit/N900-HKlayout/master/rx-51

Entering the fn-enter combination in emacs results in a TAB

key <RTRN> { [ KP_Enter, KP_Enter, Escape, Menu ] };

how is that possible?

BTW. fn-del doesn' t result in TAB but just seem to delete...

Really confusing.

aargh, I remember I have fighting this long time ago. I lost that fight it just doesn't work and I blame osso-xterm while in notes delete does work, but not in Xterm

also, qt applications refuses to use the modified layout, very annoying...

That would be too bad. I bought the N900 for the sole purpose of using org mode on it and the Meta key is needed.
I will ask the same question in the Emacs thread. Hopefully someone can assist who already tried before.

[edit] I finally succeeded. See here http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=88135&page=3
