I've not hacked the N900 too much up till now as it was my main phone that I couldn't afford to have down... However, I've just upgraded to the N9 from my N900, so I want to play with the N900...

What would you recommend as some things to do now it's main function is not a phone?

enable extras-devel and go crazy installing anything and everything that sounds interesting. Vote for apps that you think are good enough.

Good plan - do you think I should re-flash first - so I start from a decent baseline?

I wouldn't. I'd only flash it if some devel app causes problems.

apt-get moo

after that play around with the file system, theme's scipts etc. maybe dabble in a bit of Qt
