Hi I also trying telegram,but when starting the app. shows that error:
home/user/telegram # ./telegram
Telegram-client version 0.01-beta, Copyright (C) 2013 Vitaly Valtman
Telegram-client comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY; for details type `show_license'.
This is free software, and you are welcome to redistribute it
under certain conditions; type `show_license' for details.
*** bad_msg_notification: msg_id = 5984242699118444544, seq = 1, error = 16

Any advice,or this just is normal

Thanks for the help,but although i created directory /etc/telegram/server.pub the output from console is:
/home/user/telegram # ./telegram -k /etc/telegram/server.pubTelegram-client version 0.01-beta, Copyright (C) 2013 Vitaly Valtman

*** Couldn't open public key file: /etc/telegram/server.pub
rsa_load_public_key: No such file or directory
note:server.pub i created with leafpad like emty file and put in /etc/telegram/

disappear, you have to download tar file in the first post, extract two files, then rename tg.pub to server.pub and put it in /etc/telegram/

Up and running and it works as expected but I can't say this cli application is intuitive and practical...

Use the key supplied in the package in first post. Just extract telegram in /home/user/

So you end up with this:

/home/user/
/home/user/telegram/telegram -- The executable
/home/user/telegram/tg.pub -- The public key

Now cd to /home/user/telegram/
and run ./telegram -k ./tg.pub

it will ask for your number and sends you a SMS.
Libraries I have installed with exact name:
Libconfig8
libssl0.9.8 (No 0.9.7 installed)
libreadline4
libreadline5
libreadline-common


Good luck. Still I hope someone with enough skill will make a Maemo IM plugin

Edit: @above, why you run telegram as root?

Got all libs required, tried directy against tg.pb, tried as root, non-root... and i get the same result

Hi just delete evrything from telegram and install again follow instructions by mr_pingo
sudo gainroot
rm -rf telegram
rm -rf .telegram
rm -rf /root/.telegram
