I don't know what is wrong, autobuilder sent me the success email, but I'm leaving in half an hour for vacation and I can't investigate, so I just uploaded the deb here.
Attached Files
File Type: deb timenow_0_0_2_armel.deb (18.9 KB, 195 views)

I have checked in vain, it seems i386 builds ok but armel seems just stuck with 0.0.1
Thanks for the deb anyway . Test now

My time zone is set to Vietnam, but the language is English -> so it result in messed up week day.
Also sometimes the date does not show. I guess that you output the time first, then the date, then sometimes they are interfering with each other :-)

I don't know how did you read the day, but it seems if use "date" command then it will show week day in English -> correct chars.

Regarding phone app, it stills appears with proximity state change and phone app is active.

Maybe this needs more polishing.

But thanks for the great app, even with this current state, it is still very handy

No, that's because author didn't specify how to stop timenowd in upstart config, only how to start it. So, now you have running two copies of it, and they are interfering sometimes. Either reboot or do stop timenow.conf; killall timenowd; start timenow.conf.

hxka thanks for spotting it. I thought I addressed this but obviously there is an error somewhere. Thanks guys for testing. I intend to make this as bug-free as possible, but no new features can be expected. The day name unfortunately depends on locale, and as text2screen only, suuports latin characters, there are not much I can do. Either have an option in a configuration file to cut the day off, or (if possible) show it always in English.

And there's a delay of my flight, if you're wondering.

@qwazix
thanks again for your work. I think that a minimalist config file to define what display when active would be a great way to manage little issues due to localization or personal preferences...

Concerning the battery drain, while waiting for a better way to manage it, an external flag (or file presence) would be a good way to disable it in some situations (or hours of night/day) using external scripts or rules and without add a lot of code to the project...

for now you can stop it with

/sbin/initctl timenow.conf stop

as root, but it will start again next reboot

@qwazix: do you have any plan for the next release of this great program. I enjoy using it but it consume battery so much (stand by charge increase from 7 mAh to 20 mAh) so I have to stop using it.
Or maybe you can publish the source, maybe I can help
