@hxka: did it run on you device?
After restart proximityd and timenow.conf it seems to work.

But this does not work out of the box.

Maybe the program should consider start proximityd on its start

I used bq27200.sh.
I measured current in flight mode with turned off screen. It was 4 mA.
Then I started timenow and measured current again. It was 10-12 mA.
11-4=7.

This is brilliant and useful! However, I'm having screen redraw problems while running debian chroot.

Also, any way to show more info like current profile (silent or not) etc on the screen along with the time?

The best way, would be to allow customization - every user would be able to select, (even if via "hidden" configuration file) what to show.

I know that original idea was about time only, but free choice never hurts

tested and the power consumption is still high:mine is 8-12 mAh.
Maybe we should have a configuration for interval check. Or find ways for not polling proximity.

hello,
I read the whole thread but cant find my answer...

I Installed timenow from devel but I cant see it working... I rebooted my N900, and locked the screen and there is no "timenow".. ... is there a command to start the service or something... How do I make it work?

p.s. I have CSSU-Testing + Qt-lockscreen

Thanks in advance

Try /sbin/initctl start timenow.conf and /sbin/initctl start proximityd and post results here. Also make sure proximityd is installed. If not then I have an error in my debian control file. 0.0.4 will make sure proximityd is also started upon installation.

here you go...

*****
Nokia-N900:~# /sbin/initctl start timenow.conf
initctl: Job not changed: timenow.conf
Nokia-N900:~# /sbin/initctl start proximityd
proximityd (start) waiting
proximityd (stop) starting
proximityd (stop) starting
proximityd (stop) waiting
initctl: proximityd respawning too fast, stopped

*****

yes, proximityd was in dependencies and got automatically installed while installing timenow using FAPMAN...

I'm eagerly waiting to get it into my N900... awesome job... keep it up...!... but still doesnt work on mine...
