Regarts
/home/user/.local/share/applications
look for *.desktop applications (but make sure you do not remove all of them).
EDIT : Also you can just select one and keep it pressed; a X mark will appear and you should be able to remove it just like normal applications! D'OH!
In case the cross does not appear, it means the .desktop files are stored
differently, under
/usr/share/applications
but be carefull with that directory as it stores all the apps .desktop files!

contactlaunch saves icons under /home/user/.local/share/applications with names like contact00000.desktop
