Is it possible to get back to the old non-rotation as found in pre CSSU N900s where most apps were landscape but some like phone were portrait? Even better would be if this were a rotation widget option. I have been using the rotation lock so my phone is stuck in landscape but this means I can't get at any options like taking a second incoming call when I am already in a phone call.

The CSSU rotation is nice for sure but it really eats CPU and precious seconds especially when you are trying to answer a call or it gets in the way when you are in the middle of doing something and the CPU is already bogged down, it also makes a mess of my desktop/home screen icons when it rotates to portrait.

for disabling rotation of Task Switcher, Launcher and desktop

gconftool-2 -s /apps/osso/hildon-desktop/ui_can_rotate -t bool false

for disabling rotation of desktop alone

gconftool-2 -s /apps/osso/hildon-desktop/desktop_orientation_lock -t bool true

PS:if u dont want your desktop to rotate u can use "CSSU STABLE" cssu does'nt consume battery but rientation lock does..

False, I use CSSU stable on my main phone and Desktop, Task switcher and Application list all rotate to portrait.

New to using X-terminal. How would I revert (cancel) these commands if I try them? Which one would leave the phone and contacts apps to rotate as before CSSU update?

Revert by changing false to true and the other way round

Hello, Please the command did not change anything on my phone. Desktop still rotates after I did a reboot. Do I need to connect to the Internet? Do I need to be root?
Thanks

Nope. Make sure to copy and paste exact command.

if you have CSSU, you can install orientation lock applet via Application Manager which can lock auto roation.

Is there a way to change the threshold angle before it swaps mode?

Sometimes when lying flat (with the camera bump) my phone switches to portrait with the slightest bump.
