I find the save-config button a bit inconvenient, many times forgot to press it. Isn't there a way to automatically remember the buttons highlighted? I recall vaguely that some application I used before had that feature. However I don't remember which app that was...

I am a little in doubt here. Normally one would set it's preferences and not reset it. If I had to modify it everytime, it would be another story.

But I will consider it. Meanwhile a new version. While playing with the configuration, I noticed the sound preference was always saves as "on". It indicates how often I change my preferences

Maybe I experienced that bug :P I thought I turned sound off but the next time it rang, so I thought the reason was I missed the save config. OTOH, you only tap the statusbar to configure one time and most of the time you don't even go there... The very first time I missed the save config button totally, realized later that I need tap the statusbar and save config afterwards...

I think it was a good suggestion to make it autosave changes, especially because the change in the code was very small

The new version would normally be in the extras-devel within 15 minutes.

Maybe I cry too much: If yes, you are the dev, you decides

The config window/statusbarmenu is immediately closed after 1 press. My idea of the autosave was:

Click the statusbar
Config the way you want it, in as many presses you want
Tap outside the popup
->Config saved

That was not what I had in mind. Keeping a statusmenu open is not how it operates in normal conditions. Then I would have to add a config submenu in a separate screen/popup. And tapping outside a window/popup screen usually means "cancel operation" in Maemo.

As I am more than satisfied with the current implementation, I will stick to it.

I agree this should cancel the operation and not save it.
It's counter the Maemo way of life.
Comparing other applications with menu options, cooktimer is the same; take Swappolube for example.

Updated to 0.0.2-7, looking good.

New version with a few changes:
* Different centering of hh:mm:ss items in picklist
* Changed item list construction so it will adapt to portrait size
* No more restart needed for changed items to take effect

If no issues are found, I might consider it the final version, which could end up for voting for extra-testing...

Thanks for the latest installment of cooktimer.
I find myself using this more and more lately it's very handy.
I have a suggestion, is it possible to change the UI for edit items.

This is the one part of the cooktimer UI that doesn't feel polished.
Example: Open the item list in landscape then switch to portrait, the edit box is tiny compared to the window. Having to move the window about and select items is a PITA.
Also I find myself editing the times by accident when scrolling to the save button.

Would it be possible to use the new "HH:MM:SS" lookup selection table instead?
This would make the 'edit items' alot easier to use in both portrait and landscape.
I am thinking three options per item Edit Item Name (as it is now), Edit Item Time (like pick duration on main screen) and Clear Item (reset all fields in a row to default). The save button at the bottom as is.

What do you think?
