Hey there,

I'm an expirienced C++-Developer and wanted to learn python for a long time.
Now that I got my N900 it was just about time to start learning python
For that purpouse I would like to clone some well known 2D-Games available for Android and iOS to Maemo, especially the n900.

I already started off with a sidecroller-jump'n'run which will be available soon!

The thing is....I'm kinda untalanted when it comes to graphics.
Therefore I'm looking for someone who's more talented than me to colaborate and bring some nice 2D-Games to the n900

You should be able to:
- Create nice 2D-Graphics (preferably Comic-Stylish)
- Create Animations/Spritesheets

I will do all the programming using python/pygame.
We will start off with a simple sidescroller-jump'n'run.
We will use the base of this game to afterwards do a "Jetpack Joyride"-clone.

If it all goes well I then should be familiar with pygame and we may begin to create a Plants-vs.-Zombies-clone with an additional 2-Player mode where one controles the plants and the other player places those zombies.
Just some ideas and examples of future creations!

The games will be totally free, since I want to contribute to this awesome community!

A suggestion: Make some kind of runnable demo where you show off what you can do. As you're not an artist, just use Paint or something like that and draw some bad-looking graphics for the demo.

The thing is...I don'T want to spend too much time into a game-project if I can't finish it anyway due to a lack of nice graphics...

Well even though showing off some previous game-projects, though using C++:

A kind of 2D-Minecraft+RPG Game, but never finished it

and this one was my first game-project ever...also using C++...it's very old and doesn't really show my state of skill:

Well I don't really go on working on those n900 games if I don't find a artist to collaborate with...but here's a screenshot of a kind of 2D-Minecraftish-RPG game I was working on, but stopped it. Too big game-project for a single person with my limited time. That's one of the reasons I'd like to code some smaller games for phones.

Hope someone pops up. If I wasn't that clumsy with graphics I would have offered myself...

It's sad as I think you really want to go for it and make nice game and I think you would have made a quality game. Hope you manage to make a engine and hopefully later there will be someone who can do the graphics
Best wishes

I think this is the way to go. If you can create a powerful engine there are lots and lots of pixel/digital/3d artists that can join up. This forum is not really aimed at them. There are many forums for "looks" (like roguelike devs create ascii interface and then team up with artists to add the finishing touch). Of course if you're looking at world of goo/hotline miami/dredmore like "indie" integration of graphics/engine then you should silently go for EA backing
