I still think that whatever Dell is sending Nokia to have orders shipped is not in any sort of order.

Its like they got a big old box, and then put all orders on a little strip of paper and dumped the papers into the box and then gave that box to Nokia. Then Dell says, "Ok Nokia, here's all the orders that we got up until now, " as they give the box a good shake. "Send out N900's to these people as you get them."

My phone arrived about 2 hours ago.

I did the 11/5 deal for $441 and the free 5-7 day shipping.

I never called or even contacted Dell in any way, I was just patient.

Last night my status changed to shipped, my delivery date was update to read 12/4/09 instead of 12/10/09, but the shipping information was "temporarily unavailable." The order page still says shipping information unavailable, but I have it here in my hands charging.

I was apparently given free overnight shipping via UPS despite not contacting Dell at all. Also, I live in IL just outside St Louis and my n900 shipped from Lebanon, TN.

The ship date was the 3rd, but I'm going to go download the invoice and see when the "purchase" date was to see if I might be eligible for the rebate.

Interesting. My story is just about the same...except that I live in Michigan, and still am not sure if mine has shipped yet (I haven't traveled home from work yet to check.)

well if I don't have it by 12/10 i think i'm going to have to cancel my order. not sure yet if i'll buy somewhere else or what, but either way Dell will lose my business.

i ordered mine from Dell on 11/5 when they had the coupons dropping the price to $442. it was shipped on 11/23, arrived 11/25 despite the fact that i chose the free 3-5 day shipping option. got it on saturday 11/28, when i returned from the thanksgiving break. so Dell isn't bad compared to other retailers selling n900.
to make all of you who have not received their pre-ordered phones yet feel a little better, or not, i had to send my n900 back to Nokia for repair and might not even get it back by 12/10.

My order was 11/26, It just changed to shipped today. It still reads as deliver before 2/10 though. And no confirmation email to my two subscribed addresses. And I didn't complain. Was just patient.

This is the official deal with the orders in which the November 5th discount was used and most likely any other order where a discount was used. According to Dell, it is directly Nokia's fault. Whenever a company offers a product at a highly discounted rate, it is usually because the manufacturer is giving them a certain quantity of the product at a discounted price so they can turn over the savings to the consumer. This is exactly what happened in the case of the November 5th orders or any other orders where that discount was used. Furthermore, Nokia has assigned only a certain quantity of each batch (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc) to the orders where the discount was used and the rest of the handsets produced go to people who paid retail for the device. Therefore, even though someone may have placed their order on the 5th, someone can in fact order on the 19th and get their device first, if they paid full price, because the allotment of handsets in the first batch for the discounted orders has been used up. Terrible marketing from Nokia. Thoroughly infuriates me, but this is the truth. Anyone with an issue needs to contact Nokia directly and demand a policy change, as I already have.

The only positive to waiting longer is to reduce the chance of hitting the 'possible' hardware issues (mic, random reboots) assuming Nokia is fixing the issue now

While I think this is a plausible explanation, I ordered on 11/18 without the big discount, and my phone has not shipped yet.

Looks like Nokia got what they wanted though. If you check nokiausa.com they are sold out. Looks like everyone jumped ship and ordered from them, or ran the two order thing.

Didn't get a chance to call dell today, already closed and won't be able to chat with them until Monday :rolleyes: back to holding pattern.

Yeah.. It was 2/10/2010 to start with.. It should change after the tracking info is updated..

Click on invoices and you will see the waybill number, put that into google and itll show your fedex tracking, mines coming to TX also so its on the same truck

Oh, OVI store... don't we need to activate the ovi store account via the phone before submitting the rebate? Also, do we need to make copy of the UPC code on the box or just a copy of the receipt is sufficient.

you have to cut that whole part and submit with your receipt.

Well my 11/5 order shipped yesterday & arrived today & now just checked again & see that my 11/26 order shipped today & is expected Tuesday after having been estimated for Feb 2010. The first one shipped from Addison, IL via UPS explaining the next day delivery to Chicago even though I had 5-7 day while this 2nd order seems to be coming from Memphis TN on Fedex with 3-5 day. To be safe I think I'll do the rebate with the 2nd one & sell the first after making sure it doesn't suffer from the issues mentioned here.

no I have a personal buyer he is going to pay me hard cash. he is actually a friend of my friend. and the irony is he also ordered on the 5th and cannot wait any longer he even canceled his order, and I have already got cash from him now, the great thing is I do not have to give him the phone until my from dell arrives.:D:D:D:D:D

They changed my 11/5 order to "Shipped" finally. Should receive it on 12/9 (5-7 day ship). Pretty excited to get the device after the long wait. Looks like Dell was really close to the estimated delivery date they gave me back on 11/5 (12/11 originally). It's pretty funny to me that with all of the speculation on shipping dates from all of the vendors that Dell was pretty close to the date they gave me back on 11/5 (makes me think that they actually had a pretty good idea all along, well except for the people that ordered later and did get them earlier than the 11/5 orders :rolleyes:)

actually, i just remembered that i also ordered at 11/05. but dell canceled my order somehow without explanation. and after i called them and recovered my order and got the discount again, it was 11/06.... what an irony....

My explanation wasn't formulated from trends or any other data. I was told that Nokia was behind the mismatch in order dates/ shipping dates by a Dell representative who checked with his supervisor and gave me the straight deal. It does happen to make a lot of sense from Nokia's point of view. The other poster was right, a lot of people have, are, and will probably jump ship. Thereby, increasing their profits.

dear goodness, after literally cursing out loud while reading all these "mine shipped" posts I decided to check mine one last time here at 2 am. I'm happy to say that since 11 pm they finally updated it to shipped. Was shipped yesterday and will be here on tues the 8th with 5-7 day delivery.

I sincerely hope all the 12/5 orders get shipped this round. Good luck to everyone!

I've been lurking on these threads for so long that I'm now quoting myself! Anyways, I woke up this morning and checked the status of my order and I now have tracking info! I signed up for email notification but didn't get an email, figures. My N900 is due to arrive at work today by 3PM. If anyone needs more info from me, let me know.

Now, I gotta sell my G1!


Just picked up my N900 from work this morning since I was out of the office yesterday. Sold my G1 on a different forum, now it's time to set up the N900!

Also, my invoice (packing slip) has December the 3rd as the ship date, so I'll be able to apply for the Nokia rebate. I ordered the phone on the 5th of November, and after next day shipping, taxes to Chicago, it cost me slightly under $500 for the phone.

Man that would be great. I'm in the ever shrinking minority of people who haven't had theirs ship. I was tempted again to order from NokiaUSA because I got an e-mail saying they are on stock but I think I'll hold a bit more...

I was told I'd get a $50 concession upon shipping and that my phone would be shipping out on 12/7 for next day arrival 12/8. I originally called in to complain about later orders shipping out before mine and needing the phone because I was moving (was originally told that I would receive the phone BY 12/19).

So, now I find out that my phone was charged last midnight and my $50 concession was NOT applied and that the expected delivery (to an address I no longer live at) is on Monday 12/7. Customer Care is the only dept that can change my shipping address but they are closed over the weekend.

If my phone is stolen by the new tenants on Monday all hell will break loose! I tried to input my waybill number into google to get a Fedex tracking # but there were no results.

Is it too soon for the results to show up? I need to contact Fedex ASAP to make sure I get my phone on Monday.

fedex takes a few hours to show up but you should be able to call them as soon as it shows up

Dear All,
This is the official deal with the orders in which the November 5th discount was used and most likely any other order where a discount was used. According to Dell, it is directly Nokia's fault. Whenever a company offers a product at a highly discounted rate, it is usually because the manufacturer is giving them a certain quantity of the product at a discounted price so they can turn over the savings to the consumer. This is exactly what happened in the case of the November 5th orders or any other orders where that discount was used. Furthermore, Nokia has assigned only a certain quantity of each batch (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc) to the orders where the discount was used and the rest of the handsets produced go to people who paid retail for the device. Therefore, even though someone may have placed their order on the 5th, someone can in fact order on the 19th and get their device first, if they paid full price, because the allotment of handsets in the first batch for the discounted orders has been used up. Terrible marketing from Nokia. Thoroughly infuriates me, but this is the truth. Anyone with an issue needs to contact Nokia directly and demand a policy change, as I already have.

ya, I also talked to the sales department of Dell. They told me that they are still solving 2 weeks backorders and waiting for the additional new items from Nokia.

I think your order will change either by tonight or monday... Keep your hopes up.. alot of people are to the point where they dont really care about the n900 because of the long wait... some people just lucky and got it first.. sooner or later you'll have one in your hands.. :)

Thanks for the encouragement! I'm also sure it'll change soon as well, but it just sucks to see so many people who have ordered last week get theirs before mine (ordered on 11/5). But those are the breaks, I suppose. No use in getting mad over it, but anxiousness is definitely brewing. :)

Don't worry matt. I also ordered on nov 5 (with the 5-7 days shipping) but i just found out about it being shipped couple hours ago. Supposely its coming 12/8. dell may have shipped yours already but didnt update the system to reflect the change. i hope you get it soon. :)

Since it's the weekend I'm not holding my breath for any changes until Monday. If nothing happens on Monday I'm definitely going to regress into pissed off mode that's for sure. :eek:

For those who aren't able to get the tracking number by googling the waybill number, just try adding 1Z in front of the waybill number and checking it on ups.com. That worked for me, and it shows my phone is on schedule for delivery on 12/7.

hey everyone... i must offer some words of encouragement. it is for sure a pain to wait for it to ship, but once it does, its very worth the wait. Don't let Dell jerk you around. If you've still not received yours, for sure don't hesitate to cancel and order elsewhere if the price increase doesn't bug you too much. I was going to do that if the second round of shipments passed me up. This for sure is one remarkable device. After using it for a weekend now, I'm so annoyed at reading all the other threads about how bad it is or what its missing. Its so remarkable of a device, even if it is missing some software features it doesn't matter. It still does a LOT that many other devices cannot.

Keep up the fight and bash Dell in the head when they deserve it. But if you're getting nowhere... drop em. Dell can be as dumb as a rock sometimes. You can't beat a rock with a hammer...you'll only end up breaking the hammer.

the funniest thing was that i chatted with dell's sales at 12/4. he told me that they were making the n900 backorders 2 weeks ago. that means the ppl who ordered before 11/22 would get their phones first. but i really did not understand why ppl ordered after that day kept saying that their item got shipped... there must be some one is lying..:mad:

dear goodness, after literally cursing out loud while reading all these "mine shipped" posts I decided to check mine one last time here at 2 am. I'm happy to say that since 11 pm they finally updated it to shipped. Was shipped yesterday and will be here on tues the 8th with 5-7 day delivery.

I sincerely hope all the 12/5 orders get shipped this round. Good luck to everyone!

Thanks, I was able to get this from the Medium and Large business section. Using the waybill number I was able to track it on UPS, but it only says "Billing Information Received" and nothing else! I'm kind of worried it won't show up tomorrow. :confused:

Well, the estimated delivery is tomorrow so we'll find out.

Order on 11/05 with the 'deal', expected ship Dec 10 to NJ. Was given the Jan 2010 line, asked to speak to supervisor, wait 3 mins and the line cut off..

I'm at the point where I actually just want to wait until Jan or Feb for the order to ship to reduce the chance of hardware issues (or if Nokia or someone else announces a similar phone)

I have the exact same status. Arrived at Austin TX Fedex facility a day early. I called Fedex and they wouldnt let me go pick it up either.:mad:

I believe that it's not Dell's fault, but it's pretty clear just looking at the spreadsheet that orders were being fulfilled by geographic area. When one Texas order shipped, the others were right behind. Same with NC, GA, IL, TN etc. There was one black-sheep California order, but maybe that was under a different coupon code or just happened to be in the right zip code to get mailed to.

I just called Dell and spoke with Shane to make sure I was actually getting something tomorrow... of course, as my luck would have it, it's currently on backorder and the new expected date is January 15. So now I'm really pissed off at the fact that those that ordered LONG after I did are currently (or about to be) enjoying their phone, while I get the shaft.

Complete BS since no one there seems to know why people that placed orders later in the month are getting theirs ahead of those placed earlier. Now I'm considering canceling with them... but he told me he'd drop another $75, bringing my total to under $400.

At this point, though, I'm not even sure it's worth anymore of my time and frustration. What do you guys think?

(Sorry for the rant... just f'ing pissed off.)

If you aren't already signed in, click the link to sign in on that page, and then click to view invoices. On the invoice is the waybill #. Type that into a google search and see if it recognizes it as a carrier tracking #. If not, prepend 1Z to it and try again and click to do ups tracking.

Mine has had Data Temporarily Unavailable since it "shipped" on Friday. However, tracking it with UPS using the waybill # above shows it left Cerritos, CA this morning at 5am, arrived in Phoenix, AZ at 3:40pm today, and is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. Yay.

mine also showing its sitting in LA since 12/5. LOL. I think this is because of our cheap, downgraded 5-7 day shipping. Its just taking its precious time chilling in the warehouse. Its probably is moving or in the process of right now and should arrive in bay area tomorrow.

Strange. It was sitting in LA for only about an hour and a half in my case (according to UPS scanners). Also had originally 3-5 days shipping and then downgraded to 5-7. I am reading most of those posts here and have yet to detect a pattern. Well, I can't complain. So far, it was all according to the dates I have been given right after I ordered on 11/5.

Sorry I did not update sooner (I've been busy with finals) but my N900 did arrive on Friday, 12/4/2009. Also, mine was shipped from the distribution center in TN. From what I gathered from the CS Rep that I dealt with they are shipping first to their customers who had their claims "escalated" and are filling in other orders from there. Also, their vendors have apparently received the next batch of devices (no. of units is unknown) but hopefully this means everyone's order is on the way, especially those who pre-ordered early on. My status is updated in the spreadsheet.

Also, I have yet to fully dive into the device, but from what I have used so far has been very impressive (the browser is amazing :)). Also, many of the problems reported with early models (e.g. mic, reboots, etc.) I have thankfully not experienced. After further usage I with post my thoughts in the first impressions thread.

The only thing that updated was the status, stating that it was shipped. I was able to get my waybill number by looking up my invoice, and from that I figured out that I could add 1Z to the beginning of the waybill number to get the UPS tracking number.

My delivery update got moved to 1/20/2010. Pointless at that time, I might as well wait for Maemo 6. I think I'll try to get on the pre-preorder list for that tomorrow, haha. I'm going to call dell and complain until they either knock off a significant amount or ship it much much sooner. Or both? We'll see. This change happen to anyone else?

My delivery update got moved to 1/20/2010. Pointless at that time, I might as well wait for Maemo 6. I think I'll try to get on the pre-preorder list for that tomorrow, haha. I'm going to call dell and complain until they either knock off a significant amount or ship it much much sooner. Or both? We'll see. This change happen to anyone else?

If there is a sizeable group of us (at least 10), I believe they will take action. Or then again, if Dell is making 0 profit from the Nov 5 orders then maybe not.

I really want to cancel mine but I waited so long, I feel like i deserve to get something out of it and not pay full price. You're right though, Dell has proven to be a terrible company. What a shame, they used to be somewhat reputable. Now their customer service is horrid. I'm going to hita bunch of review sites and give Dell bad reviews to hopefully detract some customers from them and save people the trouble I've gone through. I suggest other people in the same situation as me should also hit them where it counts, their pocket book.

If I ordered from Nokia I would feel defeated since that is why they are not honoring the orders from Dell, so that people cancel and end up ordering straight from them. I rather not ever get one than to order from Nokia.

haaha i think you're right. mine is out for delivery today (as the date noted), was just weird that it was sitting in LA for quite a while! i would think the status update would've noted when it left LA facility and hit the Sacramento one.... it just went straight from:

ok i called AGAIN. Another 40 minutes call. I called customer service who put me through to customer care, that lady was a real b!tch though. She told the customer service rep to put me through to "expediting". I suggest all those in the same boat call and ask for that department. Something very fishy is going on here, the guy from expediting said that the part is in stock. Granted I have 0 confidence in anything I'm told by Dell but he claims hes going to give me updates and try to get it shipped in the next day or two.

Also I'd like to mention there are different call centers who seem to have no communication between each other. I think one is in India and one is in Europe, judging by the accents. I called once and was told I would get a call back by a supervisor in 24-48 hours. I called again and they were aware of a much earlier call I had placed but not the one from earlier today. Then I got through to expediting. If you really want yours, then keep calling and playing customer service rep roulette.

I agree. Complete disorganization from a queue standpoint. Their stock should have always said "Backordered" until ALL orders from 11/5 were filled. But I guess their logic for a queue is completely different from mine... and common sense's.

The Indian call centers mimic accents real well, wouldn't be surprised if they diversified into faux European accents. If you get them nervous enough their native accent will come out... its quite funny.

Good! More people getting theirs! Now please, if anyone has a G1, please tell me your signal in low signal (one bar areas) using the G1. My N900 sucks for coverage in those areas and I get either "no data connection", or "no cellular service", which takes care of data as well, of course.

Most of the people I have been messaging back and forth with confirm the N900 has weak reception in one bar areas- but they are afraid to be shunned as naysayers. Some here report they have better reception- I want THEIR N900:) since mine has the weakest 2G signal device I have owned or tested.

Someone (dell or nokia or brightpoint) is messing with the order of orders.
But from my perspective dell is my point of contact and dell is the one who lose reputation.

So this is the latest info. Nokia seems to be the ones shipping each individual order. It is possible that means directly to customers or to Dell. Either way it definitely means that Nokia is handling each individual order. Nokia is at fault for holding the discounted orders. The best thing to do is to contact Dell and ask to speak to a Customer Care Specialist. After that, ask them to have your order expedited ( as others have, I'm not really sure what that means in Dell terms) or in my case they told me they could send a request form to Nokia and ask them where my order is. Maybe these two avenues are actually the same thing? Also, tell them that a friend in the same situation has experienced the same problems and they offered them a delay discount for their inconvenience. They will put in a request to the financial department for this.
As a final measure, I ordered another N900 today, as "expected" it will be here on the 17th of this month, haha, gotta love it. Wellllll before the 20th of January as my 11/5 order's page says. With the 50 dollar Nokia discount it will actually by the same price as my 11/5 order upfront, but then again with the 50 dollar discount my 11/5 order will be 50 dollars cheaper than that. I'll take the 50 dollar hit at this point as long as I get my damn phone in a reasonably amount of time.

Now I'm debating whether to keep the NokiaUSA one or send it back. After all Dell.com one was a lot cheaper than the one I got from Nokia but unlike many complains that I've read on the forum, mine works perfectly....so I'm worried about taking a chance.

The woman put me on hold and told me an exact date of the 14th which is next monday. So i canceled it anyways and bought it from newegg when they had it in stock today for about the same stock with overnight shipping!

the one i recieved did not come with any dollar amounts written on it, matter of fact there was not invoice on the package.


PS: been using the one that came from dell since this morning and everything works mic works and have not had a single reboot even pushing it to the limits open 34 windows at the same time no reboots.

when you guys say mic you abviously mean the phone mic, and i guess check bluetooth but is that how you check for the reboot issue is by making the processor work hard by openeing up multiple windows?

in production means nothing in terms of this phone as i understand. all it is, is your information has been sent to brightpoint(the nokia usa distributor). and they wait until they get some reply from brightpoint about when they will ship you and only then you will be charged

I too have been troubled by the fact that Dell (who I thought was supposed to be a direct supplier for Nokia here in America) has had such a huge delay in getting me this phone. I ordered the day before Thanksgiving and had a delivery date of 2/10/2010. My biggest concern with this was getting the rebate that would need to be postmarked to Nokia by 1/8/2010. I went a head and called Dell last week and talked with a customer service rep and got them to agree that if I didn't receive my phone soon enough to send in the rebate that they would be issuing me a $50 rebate from Dell. I hope that will not have to be the case with what Roger said but for anyone else who is in the same boat of 2/10/2010 delivery date then I would suggest calling Dell and doing the same to make sure you get your $50 one way or the other ;)

I'm in the black hole between the 11/5 orders and the ones that shipped. I didn't get the $442 deal and still didn't receive a phone yet. I ordered on 11/18 and people who ordered on 11/19 have all received their phones. It is bit a geographic problem since later NJ orders have shipped. This seems to break the low price not shipping theory.

I'm from Singapore. I used Citibank card and the transactions went through. Waiting for delivery (16 Dec estimated). Getting it shipped through VPOST.

Anyway, it is no longer being sold online.

I noticed as of 12/9, Dell is no longer selling the Nokia n900. They removed it from there site.

Very strange. They just dropped the price to 499.99 only a few days back and said the order is valid till 31 Dec 09. I managed to load the order - hope they honour it.

They are completely incompetent. Nothing surprises me from Dell at this point.

Well, they know but they are pretty much telling me tough titties.

Basically the manager I talked to said that they know about the issue, but that fulfillment is giving them January dates and there isn't a damn thing they can do for me. So, Dell isn't getting my money.

I ordered mine on the 8th of December as well and I got an estimated date of the 14th which is this Monday. No more N900 at dell though. It's odd as to why another person who ordered on the same date gets a different delivery date. Also, what is taking them so long to ship it out, it's not like it needs to be assembled or anything. Any thoughts?

I also order another one from Dell and they put it on hold. I had to call to fix the problem. Hopefully, it went through. Placed order on 12/08.

Amazon is currently out of stock. The one that is up there is one of the sellers from the marketplace.

It looks like it is out of stock just about everywhere. The only place that seems to have it in stock is Newegg at $599.

Well I received a defective phone from Dell (bad mic). When I called to get a replacement (yesterday) Dell refused saying they could not give me a reasonable estimate of when they would have the phone back in stock (they will only issue a refund). I am now trying to get a replacement from Nokia directly.

He's from the expediting department. F*ck him, everyone call him off the hook until he makes it a priority. On Monday, he assured me he was going to keep me updated on my expediting request, but he didnt even submit it till the 10th, yesterday he got a response and never notified me. Today I called him again and he told me 'I requested an expedite but the part is out of stock and you will get it on 1/20/2010.' I explained the situation to him multiple times and he was basically ignoring what I was saying and telling me 'the part(s) is out of stock.' They are not taking this situation seriously or pursuing our interests. He told me to call customer care and gave me another number as well, which I called and it turned out to be the number to cancel my order. So I got transferred to customer care, they eventually blamed it on the vendor (Nokia). I called Nokia, they can't look up our orders from Dell naturally. They told me some nokiausa preorders have experienced the same problem. Now the phones are out of stock on nokiausa, too. They are going to contact Nokia management and inform them of the problem with Dell orders. Yeah right, if that ever happens I will take my N900 and wear it up my *** for the first 2 weeks because it has already been f*cking me through the entire order process.

I suggest you call nokia and also email them and complain:

Many of us ordered on 11/5 and were pushed back to 1/20/2010.
