Happens *very* rarely here, too, although, not since last update (can't pinpoint exact date, but "for ages" seems approriate). I tend to blame OmWeather widget.

Smells like another hildon-home/Hildon-desktop or some bad widget: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=86804.
My bet is on some bad widget...

The only widgets i have on desktop are personal ip and qbw-harmattan-date, and some shortcuts, plus i have disabled all extra screens from manage views so i guess its not just widgets.

I too have personal IP (still running stock hildon), besides others. And I do have that also, so it could be the cause.
But I thought fmg fixed that ppoll/pselect issue for cssu?

The kernel part is fixed, but glibc part is not. Or better said - there is fixed glibc, but is still not in the repos. I hope merlin1991 will finally manage to put that fixed glibc in cssu-testing repo with the upcomming cssu-testing update.

Purging personal ip resulted in hildon-home crash so bad that i had to reboot the phone so i guess it was the one responsible, after removing it and rebooting the phone hildon-desktop and hildon-home seems fine.

Which Personal IP are you using? I'm on Thumb, using Personal IP 0.4-2 from extras-testing and have not experienced any issues.
