You may be able to find authorized resellers for your carrier network that offer you the N9 for contract prolongation with your carrier.

I am interested in nokia N9 as its sort of next step from maemo as i love it, love the bigger screen but not too big so it dont fit comfy in hand or in my pockets, love the better camera, love the multi tasking, apps games could be an issue as i like having stuff to keep me entertained, not too sure about the browser i love N900 browser as i do alot of internet browsing/downloading, plus love the looks thinking white N9 64gb SGS2 has ok looks not as nice as N9, big memory, memory card slot, good battery, loads of apps games etc!
So thats where i am so far. My contract runs out end of month!!! Thats why i wanna know what to upgrade to see what my network is gonna offer me or what to ask for! I know i cant get Nokia N9 of them here in UK (bloody nokia-bloody Elop hate him) for not releasing in UK!
What shall i do???
my N900 too, its always take some random reboot when try to overclock over than 850Mhz,

Since I got the N900 in 2009 I use it only as an internet tablet. My primary phone has been N95 > Milestone X720 > i8910 > HTC Wildfire > Another N900 > N9. The only one of them that makes me feel I can leave the N900 at home is the N9. It feels at home. I can open the terminal and play with the conf files when I am bored, or try to code, or make other linux apps play on it, or try different browsers etc etc.
However when I take the N900 in my hand again, everything seems so more friendly, ctrl+a, ctrl+c, arrows, stylus instead of trying to drag or click with precision. Everything is fast at stock speed because I reflashed recently. Easy debian from sd partition is fully usable, and I try nemo every once in a while.
I drooled over the Note for a while, but now I know I made the right choice, because the N9 is gorgeous, it's still maemo, and has a good battery life. Along with the trusty N900 it's dream team. (oh and you can vnc from the N900 to the N9 if you really need the keyboard)

You are right that the N9 is not officially released in the UK and that you won't get one as an upgrade from any UK network. If you are able and willing to buy one outright, SIM free, then there are a few UK sellers carrying them at about £450ish. I wouldn't spend that on a phone without a user-replaceable battery and a microSD slot.
Anyway, it's your money, but keep in mind that upgrading your phone ties you into a new (usually 2-year) contract that normally costs £10-£15 per month more than the equivalent service on a SIM only basis, so you're paying anywhere up to about £360 over 2 years for having the upgrade. For any device you're thinking about buying, ask whether you're certain enough to spend £360 on it. From what you say, I think it would be worth investing the time to take the backups you need, reflash the N900 and get it working how it should, taking advantage of the last 2 years developments along the way. Bit of a pain, but, yours sounds like a situation in which much could be gained by setting it up anew.
