(and if you've removed that alarms .desktop file...)
I renamed the file (/usr/share/meegotouch/applicationextensions/statusindicatormenu-alarms.bak) and restarted sysuid and it was gone. Let's see if I get a MALF or not after reboot.

Edit: everything is still fine after reboot

Tried this successfully with Open mode. The Brightness applet works great too. Thanks

Sadly this results in unmet dependencies when trying to install new apps:
Code:
~ # apt-get upgrade
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
You might want to run ‘apt-get -f install’ to correct these.
The following packages have unmet dependencies.
  mp-harmattan-001-pr: Depends: system-ui (= 1.2.24-2+0m7) but 1.2.23-1+0m7 is installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try using -f.
apt-get install -f removes the brightness applet.

@jd4200 and @qwazix
To stick the date in the status bar - use option Y of the N9 QuickTweak app

Anyway n9 screenshots:

not bad, but my statusbar is already cramped, and it's a nice option to have it shown on click like on the N900

Never mind hadn't seen MAG changed the first post to only work on open mode and inception.

Couldn't you just use N9 QTweak, that's what I've used to get the date shown in the statusbar.

Hmm, are the N950 files older?

That's the version on my N950, are all N9s 1.2.24?

It seems so. I uninstalled system-ui-brightness to be able to reinstall system-ui.

But that fails....

Code:
~ # apt-get install system-ui
Paketlisten werden gelesen... Fertig
Abhängigkeitsbaum wird aufgebaut
Status-Informationen einlesen... Fertig
Die folgenden Pakete werden aktualisiert:
  system-ui
Aegis rejecting /var/cache/apt/archives/system-ui_1.2.24-2+0m7_armel.deb: package 'system-ui' already installed from 'com.nokia.maemo/local' -- not replacing it from less trusted source 'com.nokia.maemo'
aegis aborting dpkg -- all listed package files rejected
Compilation failed in require.
Updating desktop entries... Done
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (255)
Seems that the inception installed package is more trusted than the nokia package

Code:
/usr/sbin/incept /var/cache/apt/archives/system-ui_1.2.24-2+0m7_armel.deb
as a quick workaround to get the original package till I raise the version number.
Will do it once I'm done with uni (1.5 hours from now)
(if you're familiar with unpacking deb packages, unpack this, raise version number, repack and install)
