Re: How many of you still use N900 as main phone?

I'm still using the N900 as my one and only smartphone. I started to look around the Android market after MfE stopped synching with my google calendar some time last year and thus the N900 lost some...

Re: Easy Debian Fremantle Beta Testing

The Wiki (http://wiki.maemo.org/Easy_Debian) has some instructions on how to recreate the panels.

A simple possibility is to re-install the easy-deb-chroot package (leaving the image in place)....

Re: The Epic Android Thread

So you have dumped your N900? Although I sometimes wish it would be snappier, the N900 still serves my needs perfectly. Is there anything that you miss on the Note that was possible with the N900?...

Re: Announcement - PR1.3.1 official security update

When you update through the program manager you can have a look at the details of changes before proceeding. There you'd see that it is just packages related to certman that are being update.

Re: Easy Debian Fremantle Beta Testing

I can't see anything wrong in what you did - seems to be exactly the same as I did but with the standard kernel (the wiki entry is from me). Have you tried encfs from the squeeze repository instead...

Re: Easy Debian Fremantle Beta Testing

What is the problem with libncurses5?

As far as I'm aware, packages that should not be upgraded to squeeze include gconf2 and libpulse0.

It would indeed be great to be able to move on to...

Re: Easy Debian Fremantle Beta Testing

This line shows that the image file is not in the folder /home/user/MyDocs. Further above you wrote "myDocs". Unless that was a mere typo, you may have put your image in the wrong folder.

Re: Easy Debian Fremantle Beta Testing

I had reboot problems only when, upgrading vom v3d to v3e, I tried to install lots of packages I wanted in one go. Doing them individually, I then didn't encounter this problem again - but of course...

Re: how to activate streetview?

Great!

What about packaging these two files, perhaps augmented with a local strade file and "file:///...." instead of http to your website, as a cute new Maemo application? It should of course...

Re: Easy Debian Fremantle Beta Testing

I have installed xournal from squeeze, though it's a while ago.

The error you are getting sounds like a more fundamental problem. Do you have enough space in your image left? See my personal wiki...

Re: Easy Debian Fremantle Beta Testing

Actually, by now squeeze is stable and lenny is oldstable. Nevertheless, I always install from lenny unless there's a particular reason, so that's probably why I had only few problems with reboots -...

Re: Easy Debian Fremantle Beta Testing

I don't have power kernel running. My solution was to make backups and to install in smaller pieces when I run into the reboot problem.

Re: Easy Debian Fremantle Beta Testing

This problem seems to have arisen with PR1.3, see also earlier in this thread. Qole said (http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=896269&postcount=1971) that with power-kernel the problem again...

Re: Easy Debian Fremantle Beta Testing

The openoffice.org Debian packages have received a number of updates recently, mostly security related. In Easy Debian (v3e) I therefore did:
apt-get update
apt-get install openoffice.org-core...

Re: Adobe Flash Player 10: When will the update arrive? Is it coming at all?

Note that a simple alias only works for root, for example when you ssh into the device.

I actually found that tweakflashver is (so far) enough for almost all of my purposes (google streetview I...

Re: Adobe Flash Player 10: When will the update arrive? Is it coming at all?

Having tested this leaked 10.1 plugin, I soon switched back to the native one. But it's certainly good to have the option of a real if somewhat unstable 10.1 flashplayer for cases where tweakflashver...

Re: easy debian: hide maemo top panel? and some other questions/suggestions

Re: Adobe Flash Player 10: When will the update arrive? Is it coming at all?

Your report on how negotiations between Community Council and TI went is a bit short and cryptic. Were there negotations at all as announced?

Re: Easy Debian Fremantle Beta Testing

Re: Easy Debian Fremantle Beta Testing

If you have enough space on your device, make backups of the Debian image when it's still uncorrupted so that you don't have to start from square one when it happens again. Or backup through USB!

Re: Easy Debian Fremantle Beta Testing

I did
apt-get install --no-install-recommends kazehakase libgtk2-ruby libgtk2-ruby1.8 xulrunner-1.9.1

which also worked. Does your way get rid of xulrunner 1.9.0? Is it preferrable to have only...
