Re: Easy Debian LXDE As Replacement Desktop

Thanks,
Qole's script has it, too, but as Maemo menu entries. Using the neww script, you can't revert to Maemo without logging out of LXDE. What I'd like is a way to autostart it with LXDE. Can I...

Re: Easy Debian LXDE As Replacement Desktop

Qole,
What's the easiest way to set cpu performance mode with these scripts? I'd really like it to be automatic(maybe in LXDE autostart) or at least in 9menu.

Re: Easy Debian LXDE As Replacement Desktop

I think we should start a 'Nokia should hire Qole and pay him very well' thread.

Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!

Qole,
Real interested to try the scripts to shut down Hildon and use 9menu. Can you access the Hildon file manager with 9menu? I want to access my Samba shares in LXDE without installing all the...

Re: Debian Apps That Run Well On The Tablets

Has anybody thought about Google Gears? Could we somehow use the Maemo port?

Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!

Ditch Iceweasel! There are several lighter browsers that wil do great. I've been real pleased with epiphany-gecko.

Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!

I agree, qole, that Maemo's status and network stuff is great. I'm just wondering if we can't access them with standard linux tools. For instance, wmbattery does seem to handle the battery status...

Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!

Ok, I meant wmbattery. I was thinking lm-sensors, but that's not battery. Good news is that wmbattery works. It's docking in the top left corner and covering the menu icon on the panel, but I...

Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!

That sounds great qole! I don't even care about Hildon apps - I've pretty much uninstalled them all and replaced them with Debian equivalents, but the connections and battery stuff would be good. ...

Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!

I like LXDE so much I'm running it fulltime. Got lxlauncher to autostart with LXDE, now I want to set up LXDE to autostar when I turn on the tablet. I've searched the forums, but can't find clear...

Re: Debian Apps That Run Well On The Tablets

One other app that works great is postr for Flickr uploading. It's slow to pull in a folder of pics of any size, but uploads to Flickr great once it does.

Re: Debian Apps That Run Well On The Tablets

Ok Qole, I can confirm that lxlauncher works great from within LXDE, but throws a 'Segmentation fault' if attempted from within chroot in Hildon. Just 2 issues:

1)If you run it from a terminal,...

Re: Debian Apps That Run Well On The Tablets

It seems to work, but I just installed it. Couldn't find a menu entry, so started it from a terminal. It came up fine, and I switched between tabs and launched a few programs from it. Will try to...

Re: Debian Apps That Run Well On The Tablets

Just found lxlauncher in the repositories. It gives an EEE-like tabbed launcher which is actually the kind of thing I've envisioned for the tablets. Can anyone tell me how to autostart it when I...

Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!

First of all, thanks Qole! You've made me fall in love with my n800 all over again. This is what the tablets should have been out of the box!
A couple of comments:

1)For anyone questioning the...

Re: Howto: Installing Hamachi on N800/N770/N810

This is awesome! Thanks so much! One question, though. With the Himachi gui on the desktop, there is a 'browse' option that lets you interact with your network shares, but I can't figure out how...

Re: What woud you realistically like to see in the N900?

I really only want two things that my N800 doesn't have now:
1:)More horsepower. I don't know if it's software or hardware, or both, but we're not quite to the fie on a mobile device. The it does...
