Re: n810 os?
You can install Debian, KDE (not sure what the underlying distro behind it is). I think some people have also gotten Ubuntu Mobile to install but I'm not 100% sure.
I don't think there's any hope...

Re: Automatic Muting via cron
Yea, but I really like having the LED notifications during the day. And I'd rather not have to turn them on and off every night/morning.

Re: Automatic Muting via cron
I wonder if it would be possible to do something similar to this for the indicator light. I sometimes wake up to an annoying flashing blue light in the middle of the night when I receive an email.

Re: Android on the N8x0?
I've looked into running Android myself and as far as I can tell it's not simple at all at this point and probably won't be simple for a while. Ive heard it's especially difficult on the N800 because...

I'm afraid I'm not a Maemo developer (not yet anyway) and I can't answer your question.
But have you looked at GeoClue (http://maemo.org/community/wiki/geoclue/) it looks like it could take care...

Re: Just got a n810 and have some questions
I'd recommend installing and using Canola. That will most likely take care of your music and WMV issues. Plus it's just a really nice app.
I don't know of any way to improve flash performance....

Re: $199 iPhone 2 (3G & GPS and exchange)
$15 a month unlimited?!?! How did you manager that? Verizon wants to charge me $60 a month for 5GB.
If I'm missing something please let me know. I would gladly pay $15. But $60 is highway robbery.

Re: network printing
I don't know of any routers that would do that off the top of my head. But you might want to take a look at the NSLU2 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NSLU2). They're really handy for attaching a USB...

Re: $199 iPhone 2 (3G & GPS and exchange)
$199 is definitely a great price but that's just one piece of the puzzle. I really doubt that you'll be able to get unlimited 3g access for the same $60 bucks a month (in the US) as iPhone v1.
We...

Re: N810 as a car computer
Yes. Every Linux distribution has various run levels (typically 0-6). 0 is halt, 1 is sort of a rescue/maintenance mode, 6 is restart. Some distros have one runlevel for booting to the command line...

Re: a really nooob question....
If you have OS2008 there should be a Memory app in the Control Panel.
Or if you want to get more technical you can always run this in the terminal.

Re: Wiicontrol Application for Maemo
I would love to see this work for Vagalume or something similar. That way I could plug my N810 into my stereo system and control it from my couch.
It would be a great way to listen to internet...

It's interesting to me that they seem to have a real partnership with Sprint XOHM. They even mention a "XOHM WiMAX activation guide" is included in the box.
I wonder you will be able to get the...

Re: N810 for $289.99 and N800 for $239.99
It looks like the SCENEZINE code still works too, which puts it at $331.49. Which is pretty stinkin' good for a new n810. You can't hardly find them used for $350 these days. I've been waiting for...
