You probably had to do:
root
mount /dev/mmcblk0p2 /and -o noatime
nitdroid-uninstaller
Flash your kernel using maemo flasher

Does anyone else get APN save problem??
I have this problem since Froyo, It's the same in Gingerbread.
i can't save APN settings no matter what, i have tried "Save APN" many many times but i still get blank APN screen.. help please
I did not uninstall because I was eager to try gingerbread at once it appeared.
It started well and worked so far no problems when you know the restrictions - only flashplayer did not work and had to install flashplayer again. Have to examine more.
Wish Happy New Year 2011 to e-eye and hope we can have more like this in near future!
thank u ammyt.its not cuttin off wifi but every now and then it disconnects the wifi so i hve every like 15 min to reconnect.is that normal in this case.
This happens to me, its quite annoying, but i downloaded a wifi switcher app from market place so its not as much of a ball ache to reconnect. TBH somebody probably knows a proper fix, but i couldnt find one
I'm again facing the same pain in the but*, Opera Mini. Does anyone have an enlightment about this issue?

gingerbread workiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing , games working and sound also
and also root which is disabled by default by e-yes
haaaaaaa, *sighs* I give up, Opera Mini sucks. Any ideas folks about it being not working with me? Any ideas, brainstorm them! The only reason I need it is because it is proxy-enabled, blocking that crap facebook blocked at our crappy school. Seems that there is no hope for me entering the communication world *sighs again*. Let alone Opera Mini, aren't there any other proxy-enabled web browsers working on Nitdroid?

I´m facing an annoying problem
The Low Memory warning...
It seens that gingerbread recognize as Internal Storage 1.8GB used and 198mb free
and an SD Card with 23GB used and 3.5GB Free
How can I make the NitDroid to install programs on this 3.5GB free and stop telling that is out of memory?
With this, i cannot install any app on the market android, it keeps stuck on "Starting download"
Any opinions?
Sorry for the bad english

u can repartition ur memory card but u need to copy ur files first as they will be deleted

no need to install kernel as its already installed?

mount the partition u want to install nitdroid on it
then tar the gingerbread to it
and after thet u can go to /etc/multiboot.d and make another copy of the existing item and edit it to match the partition u want

OK, I can´t solve my problem, I installed Gingerbread on the EMMC memory, but the android is saying that I don´t have enough space to install anything...

How dumb of me, the Nitdroid is already rooted.
( Rooted are the latest Froyo releases )
Just, on maemo xterm.:
root
mount /home /and
cp ( for example ) /home/user/MyDocs/Nitdoidisthebest.apk /and/system/app
Boot Nitdroid, and it's there!
Edit.: Forget everything, I rebooted, now Sdcard became MyDocs and shows everything...

1) I believe that you also need to install multiboot separately and when nitdroid is installed, it'll make its own file line in multiboot.
http://forum.nitdroid.com/index.php?topic=84.0
2) Yes, backupmenu has to be uninstalled, as per the instructions in the first post.

Hi guys, I don't know why my nitdroid gingerbread getting low battery notification on a fully charged battery while maemo showing full battery.

This is because bme (battery management) isn't quiet stiff in Nitdroid, so you take the average of both readings :)
Turkishflavor
2011-01-02, 09:11
there is missing the poll option: "dont need android. maemo is much better."
lol srsly ? xD time to dump to those old vibrators i have
Ya, but be sure to have spair parts ----> haptic feedback on, then open the lens :p, the device will start rumbling till you get the tiny popup message: application camera not responding in other words I'm a mobile phone I'm not a ***** :p
there is missing the poll option: "dont need android. maemo is much better."
Well then keep it to yourself. Seriously, we're all testing and having fun and sharing problems, ideas, jokes. It is a community where noobs and pros live happily. We all love Maemo, but at least this can let you test more android apps. So if you don't like it, don't be a troll, and show some respect to those devs.

yeah. videos work with 0.0.8 but not flash content. It won't let you install flash 10.1 even with the official installer downloaded. It starts but then says device not supported or something like that. That's why I was wondering if the lastest ginngerbread/0.0.9 solves this.
I just added a brief guide on how to apply the updates of gingerbread in the interesting stuff section of my first post. :)
is skype working with voice? and what about voip? any one tried it?

Can't find the 0.0.9 either, as I thought I might do that one instead. Have the files been removed or are they justhiding in plain sight and I'm being stoopid

SHUT YOUR FACE!!!! seriously, just kill yourself, i'm tierd of all consumers like you that only eat and ****, and provide nothing except smell from their poop. don't like it? do it yourself? can't do it - shut your face or pay him money for full job to do it. only because of people like you developers less and less want to share their work (let me also remind -- for FREE!!) so just erase your self from earth and make it easier for others.
P.S. i don't care about you saying i'm too rude, cause seriously - there is end for any patience. Not first time, not first guy asking it.

Have you installed the new kernel using these instructions if so remove the red dot
Kernel update for Nitdroid:
1. Download the kernel from http://downloads.nitdroid.com/e-yes/zImage.
2. Connect your phone using usb to your computer and copy the kernel over to the phone (paste it in MyDocs) open up filebox and navigate to where you copied the kernel and copy the zImage.
3. Now navigate to /boot/multiboot. There should be a file here called vmlinuz-2.6.28.NIT.06. Rename it to vmlinuz-2.6.28.NIT.06.old.
4. Paste the xImage and rename it to vmlinuz-2.6.28.NIT.06.
Now you have the latest kernel installed!
EDIT wow i made a balls of explaining that i just mean dont put the dot after vmlinuz-2.6.28.NIT.06 when renaming

haaaaaaa, *sighs* I give up, Opera Mini sucks. Any ideas folks about it being not working with me? Any ideas, brainstorm them! The only reason I need it is because it is proxy-enabled, blocking that crap facebook blocked at our crappy school. Seems that there is no hope for me entering the communication world *sighs again*. Let alone Opera Mini, aren't there any other proxy-enabled web browsers working on Nitdroid?
is this still the case for you? as i tried opera just now and it seems to work well

does anybody have an idea what to do?
recently i was looking into de differents apps that nitdroid has, and suddenly i enter into de settings/ wireless & network/mobile networks and i change the mobile operator from automatic to manual, now i dont have signal and i can not access to the mobile network sub-app, also the airplane mode is constantly disconecting me from the wifi connection what can i do?
erm..hello..i have managed to install nitdroid on emmc (p5), however, i got a red led blinking rapidly non-stop..
i didn't have the problem during the first startup..
are there any fixes to be made?i read somewhere (i don't know if this is for 0.0.9) about a patch for restarting BME, however, the patch will break wifi..
any idea anyone?tried to search, but nothing about this red led on 0.0.9..
i'd appreciate any help regarding this problem.. =) thankyou
btw, what is gingerbread_update2 file and why it is not announced?

cd /home/user/MyDocs
bzip2 -d gingerbread.tar.bz2
cd /and

I just reformatted my N900 - as in, both emmc and fw. I have no SD card (the holder is broken).
I finished the guide, but upon booting and choosing 2 at the OS-menu I get "root filesystem mmcblk1p2 NOT available!". When choosing 2, which is gingerbread, it clearly states mmcblk1p2 under "Device:" yet the .item file has INT_CARD p2. What gives?

Okay,

leafpad /etc/multiboot.d/11* (press tab on your screen, a filename should come up ending with 11xxxxxxxxxxxxx.item)
In this file change ITEM_DEVICE:mmcblk0p2

Yes you do have to format the EMMC and reflash the kernel if your installing NITDroid for the first time.
Read the WIKI on the first post.
NO YOU DONT
installing nitdroid wont delete anything on your 32gb (internal memory)
dont answer unless you know it. people like you make people confused so then they ask same question over and over.
2gb is enough although this method is for internal memory so you dont need the card!
also flashing kernel for nitdroid has nothing to do with maemo... stop spreading the wrong words
Anyone?
From what I gathered it can be installed on emmc(aka phone memory) but do I need to flash/format it and loose data/settings?
No, No, No. The EMMC will not get formatted! You see nitdroid installation is summarized below:
You will download a package containing multibbot and prequisites called nitdroid-installer, only, youwill not run it just install it. Then you download nitdroid system files to MyDocs as an archive, then you unarchive them to a folder you will create in /home/user called /and. Then you install the kernel which is required to boot android's system files.
NO YOU DONT

FOR PEOPLE WITH PYMAEMO OPTIFICATION ERRORS
THIS IS HOW I FIXED MINE...THIS IS NOT GUARANTEED TO WORK OKAY? SO NO RAPING.
Basically, In /etc/multiboot.d/11* Where it says ITEM_DEVICE, make sure it looks EXACTLY LIKE THIS (assuming you have installed to eMMC and HAVE NO partitioned)
ITEM_DEVICE=mmcblk0p2
Yes...No $ sign, and 0p2.
If you've installed to another partition e.g. Partition 5, it will look like this:
ITEM_DEVICE=mmcblk0p5
I am no guaranteeing this fix, just saying it worked for me.
And anyone got a good way of changing the LCD density, this seems to have changed in 2.3, and i dont know how to change it :/
AND my keyboard is RAPED, as in, is unuseable! Any ideas? Gonna try the HTC keyboard now :D

What part of Step 3 are you struggling with? Have you tried these?
apt-get clean
apt-get autoclean
apt-get update
apt-get install nitdroid-installer
Give those commands a go (enter after each one, and make sure you are connected to the internet!!!)
what does the infinite bootloop with the red light blinking mean?
I THINK this is related to Low Battery, try turning the phone off, plugging in the charger and leaving it to charge!
Be careful though, NITDroid can be deceiving when it comes to shutting down! Yank the battery out to make sure its off, put it back in and leave it to charge for a while and start it back up!
This isn't an official fix its just what happened here and it seemed to do the trick! So again no raping please :)
Hope this helps!

it's already install by default, you just need to load it up
when you are on the home screen, use the lock button (the one next the headphone socket) click add, widgets and it should there

a few questions..
1) maybe i'm just ******ed but the steps on the instructions are 1.2.3.4.5.and then 9
there's no step 6, 7, or 8? what the hell?
2) i've completed everything, steps 1-9 minues the missing ones obviously, and everything is fine except step 9. everytime i do that leafpad opens up and seems to open up a file called (1) at the top, but there's nothing in there. it's just a white page of emptyness.
3) this is technically a continuation of the previous question: when do i hit 'tab' in xterm? do i type the leafpad /etc/multiboot.d/1 command and then hit enter, and then go back to xterm after the n900 opens up leafpad and hit tab? what's the point of that. i'm confused.
(sorry if i'm just daft. i'm confused hands down.)
4) i tried rebooting (having not completed step 9) and multiboot loaded properly and everything, except that if i hit '0' it boots Maemo like it should, but if i click '1' it still boots maemo. what is going on?
thanks in advance. it would be great to get this working. i'm pretty sure this is some trivial issue, but i'm stuck.

[Tab] is the soft key on the Xterm screen and this will auto-complete the command.
Do exactly as the instructions say:
leafpad /etc/multiboot.d/1 (then press tab on your screen)
This command should then complete with the name of your file to edit, so then press <enter> for leafpad to open the file for editing.
To see the multiboot item files you have available type:
ls /etc/multiboot.d/
You could provide the file name direct to leafpad with:
leafpad /etc/multiboot.d/11-NITDroid-mmcbl... (etc. as per the filename)

Hope this helps.

You shouldn't have to do anything. If your installation is like mine(I haven't done anything special), my Maemo contacts appear in NitDroid and you can navigate to your .Sounds folder to see your music too.
If yours are not showing, perhaps there was an error with the installation. Have a browse around and see how you go.
Good luck!

hey
android can't see ur music and videos because music folder in maemo is .music and so it's hidden so copy them to another folder
and try player pro for music , it works ver good
about contacts , connect ur n900 to pc suite and select all ur contacts and copy them to any folder and then copy this folder to ur mobile and open nitdroid
then open contacts and choose import/export then choose import from sd card and then copy all and u wiill have all conatcts in nitdroid :)

Re 1):
Overclocking and power management is managed by the file: /and/system/etc/power.conf
In Xterm:
root
mount /dev /and
cd /and/system/etc
Copy in your suitably named modified file(s), rename the current 'power.conf' file (to keep an original copy), then rename you required file 'power.conf'
The Android widget 'Temp+CPU V2' is useful to confirm current CPU speed, usage & temperature.

I got this to work for me following the instructions, but I've just noticed something today. I may have somehow mounted too much stuff to /home somewhere along the line. What's the best way to check which mountings I don't need. I have run the mount command in xterm and I believe the erlevant section I have are:
/dev/mmcblk1p1 on /media/mmc1
/dev/mmcblk0p1 on /home/user/MyDocs
/dev/mmcblk0p2 on /home
I believe the last one there is where the android files got set up.
Is there any other/better ways of checking this?
The reason I am checking this out is because I looked at the DiskUsage app and my /home is full. All the characters are screwed up and just show up as squares now and I cannot update anything ( because it thinks /home is full.
If there is any linux experts who could lend a hand I'd be very grateful. Any other other things to try would also be appreciated.
Thanks for all the great work so far:)

How do you do a clean reinstall of NITDroid? I want to go back on 2.2.1 but everytime I reinstall 2.2.1 I got billions of errors on screen something stopped working ...blah.
I assume you have installed NITdroid with nitdroid-installer.
1. First, open Xterm and drop to root.
2. Mount your nitdroid partition on /and.
Code:
mount /dev/mmcblk1p2 /and -o noatime
3. Run the uninstaller scripts.
Code:
nitdroid-uninstaller
4. Unmount
Code:
umount /and
5. If you are not going it install NITDroid again, you can also remove nitdroid-installer:
Code:
apt-get remove nitdroid-installer
